Anyone interested!!!!
Hi, I live in Selby North Yorkshire, to date I have yet to find a Local area club.
Is anyone interested in setting up a York and district club meet say once a month. If so I can be contacted on, persondavid22@aol.com or tel 07960210402. There must be like minded people in this area, please contact me. Kind regards David Pearson. |
Hi David
I live in Selby too and I'd be interested. Trick would be not to get too bogged down - better to have four meets per year that were really good, rather than one a month that ran out of things to do. You might even get Chapmans, or perhaps Hutton Bros to host it! The only hiccup for me is that I don't actually own a Volvo right now, however my Mrs does - a lovely old S70. But I am looking to rectify that within the near future, and get an older Volvo as a project. Nothing too far gone or too exotic, but perhaps an 850, S70 or C70 (coupe, not 'vert). Did you get any other responses to your idea for a local club? Cheers Jack |
How many Selby members!
There's me and my pal at eggborough, I've got a 940 and 340 and he's got a gul t5r. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...pswpljimyc.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...pschzrwbez.jpg |
Selby is clearly the place to be if you're into Volvo!
Is that the bypass bridge at Brayton Canal in the second photo? Jack |
Hi David
I live just north of York and I'd be very interested in getting a local group going. I have toyed with the idea myself for a while now, but at present don't really have the time to commit to taking the lead, but I'd be very willing to assist and participate! Am on good terms with both Ray Chapman and Hutton Bros... David |
Count me in, I'm just South of Doncaster. I recognise the bridge as well, I've delivered fuel up there.

Im away this weekend unfortunately
|
I'm in the Leeds area and would be interested. However I spend a lot of time away, so would only be able to make ones at Christmas, Easter, middle of summer etc.
|
I'm not that far from Selby, but as Sunday is my only day off I'd only be able to make a meeting occasionally. The Holmfirth meeting sounds interesting and I'll try to get to that one,but that I think is more weather dependant than anything else.

Re starting a club/ get together. Selby York
Hi, thanks for the response. Unfourtunatley I am just getting used to accessing the site hence I put my email and phone number.
Please feel free to contact me. I have seen a 900 estate near me. Let's see if we can sort a date for a get together. Let me know Dave |
Frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have tried to send private messages, Not allowed until I posted 40 posts.
What is this SCHOOL. You try to encourage the purpose of the site by forming social gatherings only to be thwarted by the Headmaster. Any one who is interested please feel free to contact me by email or phone. pearsondavid22@aol.com tel 07960 210402. Big brother will have no say in that. Kind regards David. |
Sadly didn't make the meet at the oil can,as usual other stuff got in the way!If you do manage to sort out some dates/times/place and post them up then I could try to sort something out to attend.

Any meets happening in next month or two! Fingers cross the T6 will finally be running. I'm in Ripon. So quick trip down A1 works for me.
Or has this thread die a death! |
No the thread has not died
I am looking to a Sunday in March for a meet. Looking at the response somwhere south side of York.
Any suggestions. Please suggest any ideas. My tel and email are listed come on let's get it going. David. |
I've only just got my Volvo so can't show it off much but I do like a good car meet, I'm based just north of York
|
What I am thinking?
A bimonthly meeting. Six meets to be shared around Yorkshire. The idea is two meets north of York one Easr then West. Two meets central around York, one East one West. Then two meets one East Yorkshire one South Yorkshire. The idea no one person feels left out. We all have the chance to meet equally.
What do you think. Please feel fee to speak, anyone who has connection with Volvo garages who would welcome such an idea would be a start or a good location for meets would be welcome. Let us get this off the ground. Nothing serious just social who knows? I am willing to coordinate. My email tel no are on previous pages. We are the biggest county and no meets WHY? Please feel free to speak and suggest or am I the only one who thinks like this David |
I'd be up for coming if I'm not at work.
|
March at present seems pretty clear for me.The classic car show season doesn't kick off until may-I don't have a classic car you understand but I'm a member of a club for the Senator/Monza/Omega etc and go as part of the club to shows to help promote the club-anyway I'm up as much as possible for informal Volvo meets, but be advised my V70 is not the prettiest example of the breed!Don't know too much[if anything]about the areas suggested for such meets so can't offer ideas for locations.
|
Thank you
Thank you it does not matter what your car is like. If it's a Volvo and you love it that is all that matters.
It is nice to know others are interested. I will sort a date and location for a first meet. Will keep you posted. David |
Im drag myself along, not been to a car meet for a while
|
Hi Guys,
I used to live in Garforth so not far from Selby, over on the dark side of the m62 and the penines now but would be interested in attending especially the South Yorkshire ones being more local. Mark |
If I am free for the date you suggest then I am definitely up for this. If its March onwards and good weather for the first one, I'll bring the 480.
Spreading locations is an excellent idea. Thanks David for keeping the idea alive! David |
