***940 diesel wanted***

If anyone is selling one let me know.

No projects or rotters - just looking for a nice daily driver.

Thanks.

You just missed out on this very tidy and rare GLE-spec estate.....

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/volvo-940...EAAOSwP4RdRf5m

There was also this SE a few weeks ago.....

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-940...EAAOSwzYNdKcm4

Either might be worth messaging to see if sales actually went through.....

Best of luck with your hunt. Don't worry, there will be others along in only a few weeks......

I was outbid at the last minute on the eBay one - then the seller didn’t turn up so I was all set to go but the seller wasn’t available and then wouldn’t accept a bank transfer as ‘I don’t do banking’. I messaged him this morning and he told me he’d taken a deposit.

Strange dude.

There is a lovely looking low mileage 740 up for auction this Saturday at Errol

Its through Morris Leslie Auctions

Bit of a trek when you could be outbid nut it does look really nice

Sorry to hear that you got close only for it to be then snatched from your grasp. That's the downside of eBay - there are lot out there who just p*ss you about, especially with cars. I've been lucky until a similar thing happened to me a couple of months back with V40 (for the other half, not me I hasten to add!!)

As I said, there'll be others along in the near future so you may need to be a bit patient. And they'll come in all sorts of ages, conditions and prices.....

Seen that one but I’d have to buy sight unseen and it’s 5hrs each way. Also it’s the non intercooled one with the weaker gearbox. I’d of probably gone for it if it was a bit More Local.

Fair enough if you want the extra power/torque of the intercooled version. There are as many of these still around as the non-intercooled, probably more. After a slow start in the UK, the 700/900 diesel gradually became more popular as the years went on.

The M90 is definitely nicer to use but early version does have the weaker synchro problem so beware. I've never heard any horror stories about the M46 when paired up to the D24 so I'm not convinced there's a strength issue in this particular application. Obviously it has the added complication of the overdrive unit but these are usually very reliable.

I'm intrigued.....care to enlighten us D24 fans...?

It was a buy one get one free deal.

One was basically a parts car but I’ve sold that and will hopefully be going back on the road.
