Wanted volvo 360

Hello I am after a 360 as a do up car finally got a area for storage

What I would like to find is

360
Black
Built in 1991 (not too important)
at a good price
And a Spoiler

There the ideals if it's possible to find such a car otherwise I'll take what I can get if anyone knows to one or is selling a 360 let me know :)

Thanks Bernie

Not a chance of finding a 360 built in 1991 I'm afraid, they finished in '89 and all the G plates I've seen have been registered on the 1 Aug only. 340s continued to '91.

Black 360s are lovely but not super common, good luck in the search

I owned multiple 360's in my time. Really fun to drive and go sideways in. The engine was really well built and even if you snapped a timing belt it wouldn't affect the valves. I'm actually thinking of buying one again here in Australia if I can find a good one.

I know what you mean mate I had a 340
Best and first car I ever had!!

It was a 1.4 and I'll never forget one day It rained I tryed to drift it and the old girl wouldn't, went to cinema that night and on the way back I turned down onto the dual carrige way slip road and accidentally give it too much beans back end come out I said very calmly said the s word turned into it and drifted down the slip road while my sis was having a panic attack lol

Ohh and to make it more supriseing it had a 1.7's gearbox and diff on
it would pull 5th at 60mph all day long increased the economy too

The drift control on it was un real can't wait to find one and drop in a 850 t5r and test it on the nerunberg ring
what a beast it'll be :P

Wanted volvo 360
Any age (newer the better)
Black (preferably but not too fussed if not)
Good condition main thing is good and solid underneath
And within 60/70 miles of Stafford (will go further if car is good value for money)

It's just a project for myself as I miss my 340 and regret selling the old girl but circumstances made me (ie no garage) now I can store one I thought id get the 340's big brother :)

Cheers mate
Turns out that 360 is a saloon I'm ideally after a hatch back but if the saloon is a good price I'll probably go for it, just waiting on photos

If there's anyone else that knows to a 360 hatch back please let me know :)

Blasphemy, saloons are my favourite :)

I was told they have less road noise than the hatchbacks and stiffer rear suspension, besides they look awesome... let photo whoring commence

I'm inclined to agree, 360beast.

Back in the day, I ran a 'D' 360GL Hatch, doing 40K as a business tool in two years. I replaced this with an 'F' 340GLE 1.7 Saloon, again doing 40K in two years. Don't know about the suspension, but the saloon was much quieter, as you say, and generally felt more refined than the hatch. It was also much more economical, averaging 39 MPG to the 360's 32 overall.

We did road test a 1.4 Auto, but found it underpowered and couldn't get on with the CVT. I think my ideal 300 series car would have been a 360GLE Saloon with a conventional automatic 'box, had Volvo but produced such a variant. I'd have one today if they existed!

I think that in the day, if you wanted a 'hatch' you bought a 'hatch', and vice versa. Today, I think that decision is largely irrelevant. Any surviving 300 series will be bought primarily for pleasure purposes. The important thing surely is that any such car, regardless of 'spec' is preserved to be enjoyed for as long as possible.

Kind regards, John.

All fair comments guys
The saloon does look ok but I do prefer the hatch back and the chanes I'd do a little tinkering is very likely finding a hatch spoiler isn't too bad (but I'm guessing most 360 hatches have spoilers) but had a guy told me try finding the saloons spoiler it's pretty much impossible (that's if they did spoilers for them and he Wernt pulling the wool over my eyes)
I suppose it's down to preference really
I shall keep enquireing info on the saloon 360 and if the price is right I may get it but unsure as of this moment and still looking arround

360beast Oct 2nd, 2014 17:16

The saloon does have a spoiler it's just a thin plastic strip stuck to the back of the boot not on top and it looks tacky IMO.

For 360s it's a case of get one while it's still there 340s you can wait for the right one but 360s rarely come up for sale now and when they do they usually sell very quickly.

Hello Bernard,
This is to let you know that I have found a home for this car which belonged to my late friend. She is going to a gentleman who lives nearby and has owned Volvos in the past.

Please pass on my thanks to members of this forum for all their interest and help over the recent few weeks.

Many thanks

Edith Rooney
