Breaking in the engine - necessary?

For those who got their cars new, did you break the engine in? If so, how did you go about doing this?

There seems to be arguments for / against it from my general research, so interested to see what you guys have opted to do

When I get mine I will take it pretty steady for at least first couple thousand miles, but I do that with any new car.

just drive it normally , long gone are the days of engines doing 4000 rpm at 70 mph, they are more or less self limiting , with all the power on tap it is impossible to use it at max load or power for more than a few seconds . Racing engines are run in with a few laps at moderate speed .
