Interesting Ebay item...

Hi All

I found this manifold and weber progressive downdraft carb on Ebay. This is interesting to me because its a Volvo manifold, not a Cannon or some other aftermarket R-Sport ripoff. To the best of my knowledge the only Volvo version of this was the R-Sport manifold and it had R-Sport moulded onto it with part number 552555-8. This has Volvo moulded onto it and part number 5881003.

Is this a fake? Is it genuine volvo for the weber carb seeing as the R-Sport manifold was made for the Solex EIES progressive downdraft carb? Can anyone shed some light on this?

I suspect it is a Swedish aftermarket manifold (equivalent to the US Cannon or the Australian Lynx ones) rather the a genuine Volvo GT manifold ... as you say, that's not the correct Volvo part number. More likely made by "Misab" ?

The fact the it has "Volvo" cast into it doesn't mean much ..... for instance, most of the Lynx manifolds have the make/model of car they are designed to fit stamped or cast into the body of them somewhere.

If it was an original R-Sport GT kit it would have a downdraft Solex carb rather than a Weber anyway.

Edit : Found this with a bit of Googling ... http://www.misab.se/6-8810.htm

The Australian made "Lynx" version (of which I have only ever seen a couple) is even better - it's a "crossover" design with equal length runners.
