help!!!!! no fuel pressure car wont start
my 850 wont start it seems as if the fuel pumps failed or a relay, trouble is i havent got my haynes manual with me so i cant check the locality of the relay`s involved. anyway story so far:
got in car turned key engine struck up and died almost imediately. RAC contractor came out scared the sh*t out of me with his limited knowledege of auto electrics. eventually he decided to check the fuel supply, and was about to fetch off one of my fuel lines with a SCREWDRIVER when i pointed out the pressure test valve on the end of the fuel rail, and found no fuel :( so now he saying i havent got any relays ill have to tow it home, ahhhh. decided to get him to tow it round the back of the college where i work, idea being if it is the fuel pump i can get the motor vehicle tutors to fix it ;) anyway any ideas relays to check ect ect would be helpful, oh and the ecu is saying theres no faults. |
RE: help!!!!! no fuel pressure car wont start
The fuel pump relay is in the main part of the fuse box i.e. take off the full cover with the 4 torx screws. The fuel pump relay is an inch square & probably green - mine started cutting out when warm & wouldn't start again for a couple of mins. The new one I got from Volvo (£35) was red in colour though - maybe so they could easily spot if it had been changed !! Also, when was the last time you changed the fuel filter - it could be blocked if it's never been changed !! Thats located on the r/h side of the car near the fuel tank.
Hope you get it sorted, J. |

RE: help!!!!! no fuel pressure car wont start
i found out it was the fuel pump, £122 ouch, anyway thanks for the replys, and take a tip from me dont run the tank low with an old car. this is what i did just before i filled up again, then about 3 days later fuel pump died, also when i took the old one out i noticed the filter on the bottom of it was worn as if rubbing the bottom of the tank. this had made a small square hole in the filter a bit bigger thus letting in all sorts of #####.
