One careful owner.....

Forgive me if I've found the wrong forum, but I'm a newcomer with a query. An elderly relation has offered me a Volvo 340, 3-door hatchback, white, first registered 11/11/88, one owner, as she does not want to drive any more. While I like the look and sound of the car, I fear it would deteriorate rapidly if used for daily London driving, and parked in our drive. With my relation's permission, I am trying to ascertain if such a vehicle would be of interest to a member of the Volvo Owners' Club who would continue to give it the care and attention it deserves.

Any suggestions, please.......

Personally I would use it - keep up to washing it (especially in winter) and make sure you keep an eye on potential rust areas...If anything appears - sand it down and at the least brush some paint on - id rather have sound brush painted steel than rotten steel!

I've moved the thread to the 300 series sales section...hope that's alright.

If you like the car, I wouldn't be afraid of using it. Far too many very clean cars go to the scrap yard as it is...what we need is owners! Make sure you keep it clean, give it plenty of coats of wax...and talk to Steve there about how to preserve it...the man is an expert, despite his (relatively few) years :D

How tidy is it, and how many miles has it done? If it's "generally nice" with "a few bits of rust", it's probably not uncommon enough to give it significant value / interest, sadly. A few hundred, with MOT...something like that. If it's really, really nice (straight and rust-free), it's potentially worth £500+ to the right buyer.

If you do want to sell it...eBay has proven to be a good place in recent years. Quality of pictures and description are everything. I don't know exactly how the market has been affected by the downturn.

cheers

James

Very interested in buying

If you are willing to go for a sale now I'd be in the market; have you any photos or details of condition, engine size etc.

Happy to come and view as I also live in London

Many thanks
