V50 2.0D is now driving like a slug!!!
 

Hi everyone,

Have got a sluggish V50 at the mo, seems like the turbo has vanished

Pulling off in 1st and 2nd gear i can just get over 3000rpm, not very confident in overtaking, going up hill is even worse. I can just about here the turbo whistling when changing gear but only at very high revs. Motor way driving takes an age to get to 70 but the you hit a slight incline you have to change down gear to get anywhere near normal speed.

Have cast my eyes over all pipes and connectors and all seem ok, got my wife to rev up and there is hardly any compression in the pipe going to manifold.
When driving the engines does sound rather noisy/louder, like the noise you get from a pipe split or loose.

the strange thing is that you said that you get to 3000 RPM as it should limit the rev to 2800.

Had this very recently on my 54 plate S40 2.0 D (no dpf)
Got the fault codes read and it came back as Maf sensor and Turbo boost control
Have changed these, checked all pipes and connections and blanked and unplugged egr
Car is now drivable but there is still no kick in the back when you boot it, sluggish on hills and motorway.
Be interesting to know what you come up with.

It is strange, driving it today and it seems a bit better, still sluggish in 3rd and 4th once it picks up it drives ok. No messages on display.

Too scared to take it to volvo ££££££££££, haven't blanked egr is this a simple thing to do

Just noticed the fuel lines have some air bubbles in, could this cause my problems, how easy is it to bleed the system.

Egr valve is a simple job to do if it's a non dpf euro 3, see related threads on here. Blanking plates on ebay for less than a fiver. Don't think it will cure your problem as it only improved mine slightly (I think)
Air in fuel line, need more response to whether this will cause the fault.
Also see threads on here related to bleeding/priming pump.

I would like to apologise if anyone feels I am taking over a thread just need some help please.

Need help please got a fault code ccm-0009 which is 'fan motor passenger compartment temperature sesnsor blocked'?

Quick questions:

Would this effect the performance of the car?
Where is this sensor?

I have a Rica remap but it just will not respond, the gas pedal feels like a brick to push like it is being resisted.

My other 2 fault codes are:
CEM-3A00 - ECM, software faulty signal
ECM-C301 - Control module, faulty software checksum

Both these faults clear if I remove the Rica remap but Rica have advised they are normal on a remapped car and would not be the cause of the lack of performance.

The car is an 2005 Euro5 S40 2.0d 136bhp with a dpf

Any advice please guys?

Yes. I had air in my fuel lines a few years ago now. Fault was not solid, but when you needed to keep in gear when accelerating from a junction, it would momentarily hesitate before recovering.

Took two trips to dealer before service manager came out in the car with me and experienced it himself.

Re your other posts. Do go and get the codes read and don't jump to any conclusions re what you might be happening. It's vaery easy to be lead down the completely wrong path because someone has pposted about a very diferent fault.
