Replacing Suspension/Lowering
Hello!
I'm the owner of a 2009 V70 2.0D SE. The suspension is very crashy and well, knackered to be honest. It's very soft and it rolls a lot through corners etc. I was considering lowering it 30mm or so anyway but I'm not sure what I need to know to do it properly? I would like it a bit stiffer and firmer but not overly so as I do use it for long journeys (and occasionally as a camper!), but I've got no idea where to start. Any tips would be appreciated. Cheers, Andrew |
Hello there , my P1 V70 was lowered using an Eibach kit , cornered like a fruitfly on acid , but it was awful at low speeds . Banging & crashing over every little defect in the road . My P3 V70 rides like a dream in comparison , at most I would lash out on top quality shocks / struts & replace any deteriorating bushes with a polybush kit .

Ah, that's not really ideal then! I do do some town driving in mine, so I'd rather avoid that. I'm a complete novice with stuff like this - have you done anything to your P3 suspension wise or is it stock? |
After crashing & banging , my PIII is stock & rides very well .
IF I was going to go barmy , I would definitely use adjustable dampers to complement the harder springs as you can then tune the damping rates . Had Bilsteins & Koni adjustable's for my Competition car . Easy to adjust for tarmac , gravel or forest stages , some times softer was better / faster & you got out without all your internal organs in disarray |
