Vacuum pipes positions
 

Hi I have changed the top tcv in my Volvo s40 2.0d
Now when I took it off there were two pipes attached to it, in and out . I don't know which way round the pipes go back on. What would the symptoms be if they were the wrong way? At the moment it splutters and i can hear turbo air on hard acceleration.
Any pictures would be appreciated. There are no markings on the pipes to indicate.
