Power Sytsem Urgent Warning

4 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I've had my XC70 for a couple of months and done about 2k miles in it. Suddenly today when I started it up, the red triangle turned on and the "power system service urgent" warning came up in the DIM. I turned straight back home and switched it off and went to fetch the DICE.

This time, no signal. I turned it off and restarted the car a few times, drove of for half a mile but it didn't come back on.

After plugging in DICE, with the key in, the battery voltage was 12.3v. When I started the engine, it went up to 14.1v (with only front headlights on the low setting) and drove okay.

The stored code was ECM-6200 Alternator - Electrical Fault.

I will try to attach screenshots of the VIDA readout.

The only recent changes I can think of are that last week I have "oil level low" signal so I topped it up. (That's another story for another time as I couldn't find the exact oil in the service station so bought something that might not be right).

So, my question is, does it seem something is wrong? Could the alternator be faulty or does it seem random?

I need to decide wether or not to make a 30 mile round trip with it tomorrow or not.

Thanks for any advice you can offer to this newbie

Your battery may be past its best but I'd run a few simple tests to see if the alternator is doing its job.
You can do it all through Vida.

Thanks, will do that first thing in the morning.

I have some hope now that it won't be an expensive/time-consuming alternator replacement.

By the way, if you have any passing advice on the other fault codes that came up, that would be helpful too.

I know about the emergency battery one and have done quite a lot of reading about it already so ignore that.

What about the injector related codes?
