Volvo 460 2.0 ES

As I am having a clearout of projects and other cars so I can concentrate on restoring my Capri, my white 460 ES is now reluctantly for sale.

The car is a 1996 2.0 ES.
White.
Genuine 43k miles.
MOT until January next year.

I bought the car in January of this year solely on body condition, as I had intended transplanting a T4 engine from an S/V40, but this sadly hasn't happened.

The bodywork is in very good order indeed. Not "mint" but very good.
The rear arches have been repaired at some point and there is a small amount of surface rust starting to rear it's head at the bottom of the arches where they meet the cill.
In all honesty, if the car was a darker colour, these would probably go unnoticed. I'd just prefer to be honest.
The alloy wheels are also excellent, with nearly new, matching tyres all round.

I collected the car from London and it drove back to Manchester faultlessly.
I was a little dubious about the journey, as the car seems to have covered very little distance over the past few years, but I needn't have worried.

The engine runs and idles sweetly, hot or cold.
Clutch and gearbox are also excellent.

I've driven (and owned) a great deal of 400 series' over the past few years and I can say that that this is truthfully the best I've ever driven.
It still feels tight and isn't clonky like most others I've driven and the interior doesn't rattle.
The only criticism I'd give the ride, is that there is a slight creaking from the anti-roll bar bushes at the rear. A fairly common 400 series trait and something I had meant to attend to in due course.

Inside is a cloth interior in excellent shape as it should be, being such low mileage.
Even the steering wheel still feels new, without the "Twisty" feeling most 400 wheels have as the outer coating loses adhesion to the inner rim.
Also has a nice period Philips radio cassette complete with instructions and the electric aerial works fully.
I think I may have a boot mounted CD changer for this somewhere, if I can find it I will gladly include with the sale.

It looks a little grubby in the above picture. No idea why it came out like that.

I have most of the car's history, all handbooks, etc still in their original folder.
Also two sets of keys and fobs. I think I still have the dealer key too.

All in all, this is a lovely little car that I'll be pained to sell, but needs must unfortunately.
I always liked how it looks like a baby T5 and it looked fantastic next to my black S70.

Pricewise, I'm looking for £650 which I think is fair considering the mileage and condition.
It is also much less than I paid for it six months ago, but I've never made money on a car yet and I've no intention of trying to start here.

Many thanks for looking.

Steve.

Definitely serious clear-out time! This one is also a lovely car and having seen it "in the flesh" I think your asking price is very reasonable...

Seriously tempted by one or other of your 460s, but I have just been landed with my mum's S40 to try to do up and then sell, so space/time/money is a bit of an issue right now. Best of luck with finding her a new home, Steve, and I really look forward to watching the Capri project!

Best

Thanks David, means a lot.

If you can't resist the call of boot space, let me know ;)

Lovely looking car and if I had the money......

Don't suppose you want to swap a lovely 3 door Rover 214Si for it? No, didn't think so lol.

Good luck with the sale :)

Unfortunately not Ken :(

Far too many cars as it is... Look at my signature!

This will be going on ebay at weekend.

Disappointed there's no interest on here, but can't say I'm surprised considering how quiet it is these days :(

Sorry to see so little interest in this one...I really like it but now is just the wrong time for me.

I hope the wider audience of eBay produces a serious buyer for you. Good luck!

Didn't meet reserve on ebay. Shame.

Any offers on this? Would be a crying shame to scrap it :(

Easy for me to say I know...but don't scrap it!!
