Which current Volvo is your favourite?

If money was no object and you had to buy one, which of the current Volvo line would you buy? Just a bit of fun :)

Nuts! forgot the XC70..my own favourite..!

Mike 700 Jan 6th, 2013 19:28

I'm on my third Volvo all of which have been XC 's , although I have driven other Volvo saloons and estates, and even though I miss the 7 seats of the 90 sometimes, the 60 is step up from the others, even though it is very thirsty compared to the other two.

So XC 60 fully loaded .

RUTV70 Jan 6th, 2013 19:47

Honestly.?...none of 'em.!...I'm very happy with my VOLVO Volvo.!..she may be gettin' on a bit but still delivers all that I could want...reliably and consistently.
I guess if I literally HAD to buy one...it would still be a V70.

Neil

I love my estates and only the V70 ticks all the right boxes.

Neil

Aye that's the point - you MUST choose one :D

Volvon Jan 6th, 2013 21:31

None of them.

If money was no object, I'd buy a 2004 Diesel V40, and 3 of every single service item and spare part I am likely to need, and run it for 30 years.

EDIT: OK I completed the questionnaire, so if you forced me into a Volvo showroom and put £50,000 in my hand, I would begrudgingly buy the new V40. In black, with black windows, I think they are just about ok. :)

AcidicDavey Jan 6th, 2013 21:43

Chose the V40 solely because there's a hot one coming out, have little interest in modern cars overall really but if I was 'forced' to get a new Volvo it'd be the hot V40 due out!

S70 B5254T Jan 6th, 2013 21:45

RUTV70 & Volvon - I'd agree with both of you (mine would be a museum-standard 854 TDi with delivery mileage), but one has to enter into the spirit of the poll!

mrmeringo Jan 6th, 2013 21:59

If Money was no object,I would have my 1988 740 completely restored:thumbs_up::car-smiley-003:Best Volvo ever.

Marty Dolomite Jan 7th, 2013 00:36

Can we have an option for
'Doesn't have flashing blue lights and a POLICE sign'?

No Tommy, Im not planning on selling unless someone offers me a large wad of cash.
The Volvo doesn't wear flashys, they are on the Focus.

XCeed Jan 7th, 2013 12:05

I have been in my XC60 for 10 months now. No other car has fitted my needs quite so well - size, style, performance, comfort, reliability, economy, etc, etc.
I was fantasising the other day about how nice it would be to win a million - and I surprised myself with the conclusion that if I did I could not think of another car I would rather have. It would be pointless changing...
I have never been able to say that about any other car I have owned, and that's included Mercs and BMs...
So what else can I dream about!!??

A twin turbo T6 300 hp?

Axionknight Jan 7th, 2013 12:22

I love my C30, so much I'm looking for a second one. I did ponder a V50 a couple of years ago when I needed something slightly larger, that too seemed really nice, but my circumstances changed and I stuck with the C30.

I've never driven the XC cars nor a V70, S60 or V60 so I can't pass comment.

Driven the new V40 and that too seems brilliant, if I had a family I'd opt for that instead of the C30.

Long story short, C30.

Well ok, if you twist my arm. Still an XC60 though - just a better one!!

irishcarfan Jan 7th, 2013 14:45

Interesting - the S60 and V60 are nowhere in the poll! We should probably send this to Volvo...!

Daim Jan 7th, 2013 15:02

I had to select S80, as that is the only car in the range, which appeals to me at the moment, but isn't that, what I want...

Why do you think there are so many deals on them.

The V70 (a proper estate car) is 2nd in the poll has 10 times the amount of votes as the V60. Definately send this to Volvo.

Well maybe we're not the target audience, but it does beg the question who is...V60 has a small boot and no spare tyre. I like it, but that's a deal breaker for me in this fantasy selection poll.

Volvo should have done a family-friendly XC50 like a Yeti but with 7 little seats. Surely that would have sold really well?

DaiRees72 Jan 7th, 2013 17:25

Well I've fancied a fully loaded V70 for years, and now I've got one! :D

I'm sure if money was no object I'd be able to squeeze a few more optional extras in it, and I'd be highly unlikely to choose the engine based on fuel economy and tax, I'd have a beast!

Saying that, if money was really no object I'd probably have a fully loaded XC90.... and a Range Rover, and an Aston Martin, and a Bowler Wildcat, and a warehouse full of pristine classics ;)

850Chris Jan 7th, 2013 17:39

Two words;

S60 Polestar (T6).

Lovely machine!

irishcarfan Jan 7th, 2013 19:26

Might send it along to the Volvo Ireland MD and tell him to get on it..! I'm confident Volvo sold more than 10 cars in Ireland during 2012

Will M Jan 7th, 2013 20:59

If i didnt have dogs XC60, but since i have, V70 awd T6.

Surely this poll mainly reflects used car buyers' preferences? The S/V60 are doing very well in the lease / company car market I think.

100K+ Jan 9th, 2013 17:19

Volvo no longer make either of my cars (a 5 cylinder 250BHP T5 or 5 cylinder 300BHP R) and nothing they currently make has me inclined to want to change.

Added all V70/XC70 have an electronic switch inplace of a proper handbrake;
99.9% are automatics - Ok I could specify manual if buying new - but would not buy new - depreciation in first year.....

However, in the mood of the poll :- Manual D5 XC70- nearest incarnation to current R

Cheers

Bob

I also mourn the passing of the 5 cylinder turbo (petrol) engines. If you want one of these nowadays then (I think) the Audi RS3 and TT RS are your only options. Even the latest Focus ST is now a 4 cylinder :(

T6 engine meant to be pretty good though - especially once it's had the Polestar treatment!

irishcarfan Jan 9th, 2013 18:58

They do make a lovely sound...

I wonder if this poll was in the US, would the C70 be further up? They're not my cup of tea - but my brother rented one in California recently and he said it was surprisingly good.

Or a V40 T5??? They've brought back Turbo 5s for that one!
2.5T, 5cyl, 254bhp but only available as an auto it would seem :(

http://www.volvocars.com/uk/all-cars...ical-spec.aspx

There is going to be a genuinely hot model coming possible with 20% more power and AWD!

Edit: It seems what I just wrote in the line above was a rumour which just turned out to be the V40 R-Design!

Yes but the Elephant in the room with all current V70 and equals is some der brain believes since the start of the new millenium "volvo drivers" have forgotten how to change gear and need the car to do it for them. Add to that we can no longer pull a lever to apply a handbrake and need a button.....

I ENJOY DRIVING LET ME DRIVE....
:lightning:
sorry rant over

Here, here!

Automatic wipers and headlights were the start of a very slippery downhill slope if you ask me.

That's good news (albeit with a sting in the tail [auto only]). I thought the latest T5's were now 4 cylinder but that must just be in the V70's. Confused.com!!!!

Now they also offer us adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning - presumeably for the visually impared and self parking for those who could not do that manoeuvre on their test - but smiled nicely at the examiner and were passed fit to drive - starting to rant again......hooommmmmm.......hooommmm
