HID Ballasts Placement (pic required)

I'm thinking about getting some HID's but want to know where have others fitted the Ballasts please?

Pics would be nice showing your fitments.

No question, get them. Best thing I've done! I'll get some pics of the where they are fitted tomorrow, but what you'll need is:

Some insulation foam
Plastic ties

I've basically put them left and right of the wings, there is an obvious gap near the radiator coolant bottle and near the fuse box.

Watch this space.

Just in case it helps, the standard fit ballasts on my 2008 C70 are up under the front wheel arches - around the 10 o'clock position on the passenger side, and only accessible from the wheel arch. Found them when a ballast died about 3 months ago.
:-(

+1 Defo worth getting HID's, I can now see a see at night :lightbulb:

Worth having a look at this thread http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=163435

I got this kit http://www.hids4u.co.uk/H7-55w-Ultim...it-H7ULT3.html and would highly recommend, much better than a £40 kit I bought 6 months ago which failed a few times (both ballast and bulb) I know its a tad expesnive but if you enter discount code STRATHY at checkout you'll save about £30-£35. They come with a two year warranty, This covers all parts (ballast, starter, bulb).

FYI - My old ballasts were slim enough that they could have fitted inside the headlight.

Have a read of This as it shows how I fitted HIDs to the V70, most of it is all hidden out of sight - Mike

Great guide on that thread - thanks for that
On the v70 did you get any bulb failure information messages after fitting?

Mine is a phase one so it didn't throw the bulb blown indication on at all however, when I fitted LED's to the rear lights I had to fit load resistors to the wiring feeding the rear lights to turn the bulb blown indicator off, in fact it is still lit at the moment as the car isn't happy with something on the tail lights but this doesn't bother me as each LED "bulb" contains 112 LED's so even if one or two blow the "bulb" still works fine - Mike

Mine fitted inside the housing on the facelift C30. Has been done by loads on C30 world and after months no problems and I check regularly.

Did have pics somewhere, will try and find them and upload them.
