Crankshaft locking tool to borrow?
Hi everyone,
I am going to do my cambelt in the next couple of weeks. Can anyone lend me a crankshaft locking tool for a day or two? I am in Forest Row, East Sussex and have a 2002 V70 D5. Thanks, Paul. |
Hi mate you won't need a tool to lock the crank up it is a very simple belt to do just set the marks up and if your unsure make your own Marks and as long as they line up you will be fine also it might be slightly more expensive but buy the Volvo timing belt kit it comes with a new tensioner and roller witch on that engine is a must fit?! Seen plenty of tensioner failures not worth saving on trust me!

Maybe bit of topic but I got hold of Cordless Impact wrench which will remove the nut with out any aditional tolls, also comes handy in lot of another application, you can get a electric corded one with 450nm for about £65

Thanks, Mick |
It will need to be a VERY good quality power gun as even professional workshop air guns can barely undo this nut .

I used Sealey CP2450 - Cordless Impact Wrench 24v 1/2"Sq Drive 410lb.ft and didn't have much of a problem, the reson why I recomended corded one was due to price, the cordless one is nearly £200, have a look on machine mart webside

Sorry guys I was just wandering why can't you put it in gear and slacken it with a large power bar whilst I respect the nut is tight but this usually works for me?
