Turbo choice

I have posted before .I have a Classic swede t3 cam and had a t3 Chinese turbo I've checked for leaks the boost doesn't start to 4000 or 4500 n 2nd gear like to do some drifting or attempt it so if I could get the boost to come in earlier in second would be great 3rd gear seems fine

Depends what power you need. For up to 250bhp just use an original TD04 13C, comes in at 2000rpm. Otherwise generally you want a smaller turbo.

If you want to go really mad, you could try and find a Toyota Mirai Air pump, but it needs a 400V 20kW electrical power supply.

Is the pump to supply air to the turbo

If you want life to be easy then I have two genuine Volvo 760 T3 turbo's on the shelf, they could probably benefit from a rebuild, they definitely spool up before 4k!

It's been ten years since I drove a 760 with a T3 but I believe it had spoiled up between 2500-3000rpm.

Those cheap China spec turbos spool really badly. Even switching to a turbo that's the same size but from a reputable maker would decrease the RPM needed to spool it.

Exactly this. They are poorly sized but even for the size do not spool well

And when they go bang the housings are made of cheese so they explode everywhere rather than being contained like a genuine turbo.

I'll post photos of the turbos tomorrow as I need to unearth them.

Basically a TD04HL 19T. The exhaust housings are interchangeable IIRC.

HX30 would be a better choice for around 280-300HP with supporting mods.
