1999 240 Estate for Sale, petrol 2.3 128K miles (South Wales
 

My Dad has owned his white 240 G reg estate for as long as I can remember, during which time it has always been regularly serviced by him or his garage. It's a 2.3 petrol with low mileage, about 128K I think. I doubt my Dad would ever have taken it over 70/80 mph. He's had a full genuine Volvo exhaust put on it a few years ago and he reakons this has got about another 10 years in it, ditto a genuine Volvo rad in recent years. It's mot'd until mid November. He's getting rid of it because they are pensioners and also run a 2.5 850 and they cannot afford to run two cars any more. It's recently developed a fault, my Dad does not know what it is but it is not affecting the running of the car, it still starts and runs perfectly. There is a loud noise coming from the lower part of the engine in the area where the belt pulleys are located and it's throwing out a bit of oil onto one of the belts, my Dad reakons as little as a teaspoon a day. It's taxed, good tyres, Volvo dog guard etc.. my Dad alway looks after his vehicles. Thank you! Sorry, all a bit rushed this evening. Yes, it would be 1989 or 1990. Its the GL. AND NOW HE TELLS ME THAT HE'S NOT SURE IF IT'S THE 2.0 or THE 2.3 AFTER TELLING ME ALL THESE YEARS ITS THE 2.3! Dads! I've been in it a lot and would guess it's got to be the 2.3 as it pulls so well compared to the 2.0 petrol slug 740 estate I had. My Mum can fish out the log book if anyone is interested. Have posted a query as to the engine noise in the 200 series general in case someone instantly recognises what it is
