My 164 for sale
Hello, I'm trying to be a grown up and advertise my 164 again.
I love her but I never seem to get around to finishing. So here's her ebay ad http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/252303996334? Feel free to ask question. Open to offers, the worst I can do is say no :D Cheers guys :D |
I noticed colonel custard had reappeared; good luck with the sale but I fear the corrosion will put off many!

Yeah, I too was pleased to see the great yellow wonder again....but yes, even for that price the rust was too much to bear for me.
I would say though, aside from the doors, it's all relatively easy to solve. I had both rear arches and outer sills replaced with Brookhouse sourced panels and my welder / bodyshop bloke, has done a great job (minimal filler and smooth lines) for £1200 If I had a place to store it for 10 years* - I would..... * kids will be teenagers then |
I'd love to get her on the road and I have all the panels needed, just lacking skills to weld.
I did have a guy lined up to do the welding but he's let me down. Message to Eddie Nuff: I can't reply to your PM as I don't have enough posts  |
Four weeks now since I left my details with the OP. It's fairly obvious that the car has been sold as the ad was pulled, but to not make any contact or even update this thread! Says it all.
|
As I follow Volvo 164 movements I have it that it was sold for just under £1000 during the first week of March.
I too find it sad that sellers who advertise here or make direct contact can't be bothered or have enough manners to advise if no longer available for sale. I was troubled a lot by an auction house re values etc and they assured me they would keep me advised if still up for sale as I had a buyer: did they.....guess. P |
Initial contact Feb 29th, mobile number provided Mar 2nd, follow up message, as it had obviously been sold, on Mar 9th - and nothing!
Manners cost nothing. |

Sorry guys I completely forgot I'd made this thread. :hidesbehindsofa:
I pulled the ad off ebay purely because of the interest from people wanting to race it. It was driving me nuts. Eddie Nuff I've added some pictures of the welding needed inside the boot. |
Congrats Sophers for keeping that racing fraternity from getting your car. They seem to have money to trash nowadays - I lost a 164 to them last year - one I said I would buy. but the racers said they wanted a family challenge with two of them....
If those shots are of your spare wheel troughs, they are the same as Volvo 240 parts which are available: I had 240 troughs and sills put on the 164 I've just got MoTd - I believe they have the same part number on the CVI website. If I remember correctly from your initial advert a couple of years ago the front panel has rust (new available again from Europe, if necessary) so the most fiddly for a welder would be the wings and door bottoms if they can't be repaired. If you can get those areas done your car would be worth so much more - have a look on the carandclassic website. P |
So, to clarify, are you saying you still have the car and, if so, it's still for sale?
And no, it won't be raced! |
