Overhauled M47 Gearbox

Hello,

I'm looking for an overhauled M47 gearbox for my 84' 240 wagon, B23A.

My gearbox P/N is 1023561.

good luck with that! Many years since an overhaul kit for these boxes was available...

Oil change (correct oil) and new exterior gear lever linkages/components not help?

Good luck either way

Hey Nicholas,

Thank for the response, but actually the gearbox is fairly noisy in most gears and I am looking for a way to avoid overhauling it myself.

Most likely the bearings.

I just had a 2008 suzuki swift gearbox overhauled as it was making an awful noise. It cost £350 at agency transmissions in Worcester and was done in a day. When I went to collect it he said "I've been doing this 50 years and that was the worst gearbox I have ever seen, it was about to take the whole casing with it" they changed literally everything inside even the oil galleries.

Can't fault the service at all, so I bet they could do your m47

It’s a known problem with bearings in the Swift gearbox. I was quoted £150 by my local gearbox specialist if the gearbox was out and £300 if they had to take it out.

What I meant was that our correspondent is in Israel

Not very near Worcester or my local transmission specialist in Teddington...
