2004 V70 SE T5 Geartronic – Not Normal

I’ve owned this car for nearly 8 years but I feel the time is right now to move on and I’ve just bought an XC60. So, for sale is my 2004 V70 SE T5 Geartronic.

Before my purchase in 2012 (125K Miles), the car had a full service history with main dealer up to 107K miles. In my ownership I have modified it sensibly and maintained it to a very high standard. Here are the details.

MOT Jun 2020, Mileage 162K miles

Impeccable Service history in my ownership (and prior to that also). I have serviced and maintained it myself. Fully documented with receipts for parts and services for more than £10,000 in my ownership.

Upgrades
  • Uprated Suspension with IPD Roll Bars front and Rear
  • IPD Front Subframe Inserts
  • Polybush rear subframe bushes
  • Lowered 30mm with Eibach springs front and rear, and Boge shocks
  • Upgraded brakes to the “R” Brembo 4 Pot calipers and 330mm discs front and Rear
  • Volvo Satellite Anthracite wheels (very similar to Pegasus)
  • Premium tyres - Dunlop Maxx RT 225/45/17Y 94W Tyres all around (Tread approx. 6mm Front, 7mm Rear and all even)
  • Ferrita Sports Cat and Feritta Full 2.5” Exhaust (Stainless Steel). This gives a purposeful sound to the exhaust but not loud at all (this system costs around £1,100).
  • Black Mesh front grille

Maintenance Highlights

Obviously normal servicing (always Mann Filters and Castrol Oil) has been carried out including coolant flush, PAS flush, Brake Fluid flush etc regularly.

While I've owned it it has been serviced at 125K, 130K, 138K, 141K, 144K, 149K, 151K,158K and 161K.

Additionally, here are some of the major maintenance/repairs carried out
  • Full Suspension rebuild front and rear with new bushes everywhere (mostly genuine Volvo), at 130K miles.
  • Transmission Valve body replaced at 133K miles, and there have been 2 Gibbons fluid flushes since then (145K and 160K). Transmission is super smooth and faultless.
  • Both front driveshafts replaced with genuine Volvo parts at 142K miles (parts cost almost £900).
  • New Alarm Siren unit fitted Aug 2014
  • Timing belt/tensioner last done Sep 2016 at 148K Miles (Gates Kit)
  • Major service/overhaul in Aug 2019 (cost £275 in parts/oils/fluids)
  • Everything works as it should. There are no warning lights or dash messages and no codes shown in VIDA (even the AQ sensor has been sorted). The car drives faultlessly.

Cosmetic Condition

Cosmetically the car is probably a bit above average. It’s 15 years old and there are a few scuffs and scratches and a bit of bonnet rash. However, it has been regularly clayed and waxed and looks great.

The interior and leather also have some wear and tear as you might expect but is in very presentable condition. No tears or splits. There are Volvo rubber floor mats fitted front and rear, and the Boot area has had a plastic load cover fitted throughout my ownership.

The wheels were refurbished some years ago but now have a few kerb marks and very minor paint flaking on a couple.

Spec

It’s an SE model. I’m not really sure what comes as standard with that or what is extra. But it has the following main features:
  • Full Beige Leather heated seats. Electric Adjustment to driver’s seat. 3 memory settings.
  • Headlamp Wash and Wipe.
  • Electric windows and mirrors.
  • Rare Wood Steering Wheel. Wood Door cappings.
  • Geartronic Transmission with switchable Winter Mode
  • Cruise control
  • Roof Rails and Rear Spoiler
  • Witter Tow Bar and Electrics (only ever used for Bike Rack)
  • HU850 Stereo with amp and centre speaker. All in full working order
  • GROM Bluetooth Interface for music streaming and telephone, and hardwired mounting for TomTom sat nav (Sat Nav not included)
  • USB Power/Data Socket and Aux Input for stereo in place of cig lighter
  • Electronic Climate control (full working order)
  • 2 working keys/remotes

Summary

I’d be surprised if you can find a better maintained car than this. I’ve spent over £10,000 (receipts available) on parts and specialist services (alignment etc) in my ownership. It’s an honest car and I’m sure the new owner will get plenty more years of enjoyment from it.

The asking price is £3,000 and is firm. If the world says it’s not worth that much, then I’ll just keep it.

A quick fag packet list suggests I can get near to that by breaking it and selling just the more desirable parts.

I keep all my records electronically and have a PDF document with the complete service history and receipts. I can supply the file to anyone genuinely interested (i.e. you come and view it).

Winter evening viewing/inspection is not a problem as it will be in my garage which is well lit, dry and heated. I have a 2 post lift if you want to have a look underneath.

I’ve probably forgotten to include something so I’m happy to answer any sensible questions or have a chat about the car.
PM me for contact details. Current Reg No is B1MCP if you want to look up MOT History, HPI etc. The Reg No. in NOT included in the sale and is NOT for sale.

PS. One point to note. The car does not have a spare wheel. I carry a can of instant puncture repair and a 12v Compressor in case of a dire emergency. But I’ve never needed it.

I will get some detailed up to date photos when it stops raining, but for now I've added a single photo from last summer at the top of the page.

I am in the market for a cheap second car unfortunately this a quite a bit above my budge. Brilliant advert exactly how I have done mine previously and refreshing to see how well you have looked after your car.
Good luck with the sale!

Very good looking car - wheels and 'stance' are spot on. And a wood steering wheel - crowning glory! Is all the maintenance work in your stewardship receipted? If so I'd say it's on the money. Wish it were mine.
