Out of interest

When I was looking to insure my 960 one of the questions was about what 960 it was the options were[apart from engine size];
960
960S
960SE
960 Executive
On the V5 where it states model it just says 960 3.0 24V so presumably I have the "ordinary" version,so out of interest what do you get over and above the lower spec to make the "better" spec cats?
On the V5 for my V70 it states for model V70 Classic and on the Omegas V5 for model it states Elite 3.0 24V which is why I'm presuming the 960 is the basic spec. otherwise it would state this?The only badges on the rear are n/s above the lights VOLVO on the o/s above the lights 960 and on the o/s below the lights 3.0.24V.

It sounds as if you have the "entry-level" model. :thinking:

That's what I was thinking LS,but I'm struggling to think what else they could have added to up spec it to a higher level? Mine has[although some/all could for all I know have been extras specified at time of original order]headlamp wash/wipe,electric tilt slide sunroof,central locking,electric windows/mirrors.Both front seats are electrically adjustable/heated while the rear seat has a child booster seat built into the armrest.It has aircon,cruise control and a rear window "privacy"blind.

Your best bet is to try and find a catalogue from the year your car was made and have a read through that, whether it's an online copy or a paper copy that you buy on ebay.
That will give the different specs for the different trim levels, you've got most of what i'd consider to be standard kit on a range topper anyway but i'd also expect leather seats, rear electric windows, "see me home" headlights and some other nice extras on the higher end of the model range.

Is the car badged simply as a 960, 'DD'? My 940 was badged 'GLE', which agreed with the V5. From memory, the 'Executive' was slightly longer and more luxurious, the SE referred to 'Special Equipment' and I've a feeling that the 'S' may have been a 'sports' version, with different suspension rates, etc.

But time blurs memory, and I could be totally out in my recollection.

Regards. John.

Sorry, just reread your original post and clocked the comment re badging. I'd tend to agree with 'LS' that this probably indicates that it is the 'basic' model. J.
