850 wooden steering wheel

I believe this is a pretty rare factory option - a completely wooden-rimmed steering wheel, like the one pictured here (cheeky picture courtesy of our very own St5ve...I'll buy you a pint bud ;)):

It will fit 850s (and possibly 960s and P1 70-series cars?). A friend has just bought a car with one fitted, but would prefer a standard wheel. I'll get a picture of the actual item tomorrow.

The asking price is £50 plus a standard leather replacement wheel.

cheers

Just sold my wood wheel on ebay for £91 mate....

I reckon you could get a bit more than £50

foggyjames Apr 28th, 2010 12:40

Well my mate (who it belongs to) was willing to take less, but I suggested I thought it was worth quite a bit more. I thought £50 was a good middle point between a nice surprise for him in terms of value, and a bargain for someone.

nice to see some non greed selling, if there was more like this we'd all have perfectly running cars within our budgets, leaving more monies for fuel and right foot action

foggyjames Apr 28th, 2010 12:52

...well...it might have been a little different if I'd known in advance it was worth more (perhaps say £75?) :D Can't exactly go changing it now though, can I?

BTW...this is now provisionally sold.

cheers

Damn - wish I'd seen this earlier: if your provisional sale falls through I'll give you £75 for it plus a nice black leather wheel from an 850 t5, if yours is the dark wood one like in the picture. Cheers

Wow thats cheap, I bought mine from Volvo for a couple of hundred if I had seen this earlier I would have had your hand off. I prefer the feel of the wood effect steering wheel has a more positive grip than the leather, I have a leather steering wheel as a spare that is in very good condition.

James no problem about using the picture at all, I am thinking of selling the dash board, centre consul, and coin tray sorry folks keeping the steering wheel for my R.

The one for sale is identical to the one in the picture. I'm beginning to regret not testing the water at a higher price, but what's done is done! My mate (who it belongs to) doesn't like it, and said £25. I said I'm sure it's worth more than that...seems I should have been a little more optimistic!

Thanks Steve :)

cheers
