Hi, I think you'll find you have to do a CBT before you can legally ride any bike on the road, it doesn't cost that much to do and that will entitle to to ride upto 14hp (125) for a period of time but if you can afford it look into doing a direct access test then you can ride anything insurance allowing, then get a mid range motorbike 400-600cc.

Its been a long time since I was an instructor and I know things have moved on since then. If in doubt get in contact with an approved intructor school or motorbike dealer and they will help you with any information..

IC beat me to it.... ;)

if you have got your full licence then yeah you can ride any bike but my guess is that you dont cause your the same age as me and we were not able to take a full licence till we were 21 which would have been 2003

Gareths306 Nov 18th, 2006 21:56

callyuk Nov 18th, 2006 21:58

Gareths306 Nov 18th, 2006 22:04

Good on yer :)

You're old enough for direct access. This means you have to take a cbt, but can then ride a 500/600 cc bike for your full test which avoids being restricted to 125cc for two years. There's more info from the the DSA site in the link.

You could try www.mcnninjas.co.uk. There's a few instructors there, and many people who have done what you want to and can answer your questions.

Bikes are great, you'll experience travel like you never can in a car. But it can have its down sides. Respect that, and enjoy :)
