V70 1.6L diesel drive 2009 - momentary drops in power

Hi,
I have a 2009 1.6 L diesel that has only done about 60,000 miles. Driving along on the flat, with my foot still on the accelerator, it seems to drop power for a few milliseconds then pick up again. It feels like I am momentarily lifting my foot a bit off the accelerator. I have taken it into the garage. In the last few months they have had to replace the DPF and the ERG valve and the tank that holds the fluid that goes to the DPF. These all went in the last few months and I got the engine system required / engine system service urgent messages. I keep hoping fixing these issues that are found will fix this fault with the momentary drop in power, but no. I think they are unconnected issues that have coincided with the timing. It feels like there is a drop in the amount of fuel going through. Today, I have had a problem with the car stereo that seems to happen when the drops occur (stereo stops playing as it happens). This has made me wonder whether there is anything electrical that could cause the problem I am experiencing? Anyone had anything similar?

Had similar, spent a fortune, turned out to be fuel filter!🤨

Thank you

Thank you, I suggested that to the garage. I think I might just ask them to change it anyway. I also wondered about the fuel pump relay. The filter might make sense though as the fuel tank is nearly empty. I guess crude in the bottom of the fuel tank could be blocking a old filter.

Top 3 priorities to resolve before anything else: Filter, filter, filter.

Mind you, isn't the 1.6D short of power all the time? ;)

I am a bad person, I shall stand in the corner :)

Suggest you post in the correct section, this is for V70 up to 1999, and they never did a 1.6, thank god!

Yeah, it is not very powerful to be honest. The 1.6 sounded like a good idea to reduce fuel costs but in all honesty, it is the worst Volvo engine I have ever encountered. We have had a 740 and V40, a V50 and 2xV70s and the only car I wouldn't recommend is the one with the 1.6 drive engine.

I was determined to hate my 1.6d after my D5, loved 60 mpg and 96 mph @ 3000 rpm .
What’s not to like, the traffic light Grand Prix is for others!👍😎😁

Oh sorry,. I'm new, I didn't read the section title properly. I will repost in there.

Eh?

6 people were shot for less only this week alone - I mean it should have been more, but this is a friendly Forum after all :smilie_zwillinge:
