Shock Absorber (Damper) Recommendations

I am thinking of replacing the shock absorbers (dampers) on my 1800E (1970). I am looking for comfort rather than handling and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations on what might be most suitable.

Thanks,

Andy

Monroes that Brookhouse sell. If just cruising and not hard driving these do the job.

Price is also about half of the KYB's. Fresh tyres are a major factor as far as comfort goes and you'll get more grip too.

KYB Gas Adjust shocks have a bit of a reputation for becoming very non compliant (solid) in cold temperatures and are stiffer than 'stock' at warm temperatures. The Bilstein yellow body B6 has quite a bit of compression damping which can make for a stiff ride under all conditions. Best to avoid either of these if you want the smoothest ride. The KYB Excel-G is a conventional twin tube shock which will be softer and may be very much like the Munroe. Monroe is probably as close to OEM as you can get as Munroe may have been the original OEM supplier.

Thank you to all of you for these thoughts. I have also seen advertised GAZ dampers which are adjustable for both Bump and Rebound. Does anyone have any experience of these?

Thanks,

Andy
