Seatbelt recall
Just had my front seatbelt anchor points changed by Stoneacres. But the drivers side is impossible to fix without a twist in the belt. When out of the car the belt clip is on the inside of the webbing rather than the outside.
Can I simple undo the anchor point and turn it around to get rid of the twist? |
Surely the dealer has fitted the belt to the new anchor point with a 180 degree (half a turn) twist, and failed to notice. Does it look like the passenger side? Thought not. Errrrm.
I certainly would not suggest you fix this yourself. The dealer is paid to do it correctly and ensure its safety. Perhaps they'd like to reimburse you suitably for your inconvenience, time and forbearance. Let them suggest something that means the matter goes no further. You can then decide if their offer is OK. |
Thank you, sound advice, hope they make my 40 mile round trip for 3rd time worthwhile.

Hope you get it sorted! I’ve just phoned my local branch and was told that I need to go in so they can assess what parts they need to order before the appointment in Dec??? Anyone else have to make 2 trips???
|
Yes I had to go firstly for an assessment, then returned to have them fitted of which one was incorrectly attached. It will be interesting to see how you get on as the replacement anchor point is about 3” taller than the original. And not colour coordinated as the original was.

I am guessing that they will need to be replaced regardless of current condition? |
Originally beige, but now black

If you look at the inside of the anchor point, there is a small square hole about 1/8th “ sq. pressing a small screwdriver, and the belt pops out. Removed the twist and push the metal clip back into the top of the anchor point, done. |

I just had the recall to the seatbelt done on my 65 plate XC70. When i got home i noticed that they had not replaced the rubber sleeve on the bottom of the seatbelt seat area. After a phone call volvo Glasgow said that this is part of the recall and they did not replace them. It leaves a big gap in this area now. Is this the way yours was done as it seems a bit odd? |

no, mine was a full replacement. Cable, sleeve and retaining clip(release button). It was a good couple of inches longer than the original and where it was originally a buff colour, got a black replacement. |
