70,000 Mile Service Costs

Hello,

Can anyone tell me the price i should expect to pay for an S40 1.8 SE 2005 70,000 Mile Service at a volvo dealer?

Thanks in advance.

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, why not call a couple and see what they quote.

Times are hard apparently so try to play one off against the other.

Haha - I have called for a quote- I was told at 2PM that i would be getting a call back from there service department in the next 10 mins. Its now 17.47 :(

I'll try again tomorrow

Why are you even bothering with a main dealer service on a 2005 car? Save yourself some cash and get a decent independent garage to do the service for you.

Oil change + new oil filter
New spark plugs
New air filter.

Remember you have the 1.8 zetec engine from the Ford Focus under your bonnet so it's not going to cause garages any problems.

Main dealers are expensive and as your car will be out of warranty, getting the main dealer to do it probably wont be advantageous.

I was under the impression that having a Volvo service history will help it get a higher price when it comes to selling it.

I know not all garages are the same, but will my local garage be as thorough as Volvo?

Find your self a good Volvo Specialist, or just a decent local garage. Once your car is out of manufactures warranty its not worth paying the high service prices with a volvo dealer.

In all honesty, a car that age the service history isn't worth all that much anyway.

I think that is a myth put about by the trade in order to justify the high prices both for the cars and the "service" they provide. Just my thoughts but in my years of car ownership I have yet to see anything different.

Call the main dealer and get a price, dont just dismiss them. My local dealer is only £2-£5 an hour more than my independants. Id rather pay an extra fiver an hour and have gen parts, the correct oil for my engine (most independants dont use correct oil !) qualified techs and now they have the Volvo Service Promise that comes with a years free road side assistance and a free software upgrade for all the modules !
Also, main dealer servicing also helps if you ever need Volvo Goodwill.

Free software update? Where have you seen this advertised?

Thanks
