Geartronic shifter - manual mode springs.

I have a 2005 v70 with geartronic.
when the shifter is in the manual mode, it feels like the shifter missing a spring....

Effectively there is a"normal" resistance when pulling back to shift down, however none when pushing forward to shift up, with a very short distance to travel.. to the point where i think going over a bump is enough to trigger an upshift.

effectively its as if a spring has snapped providing "backwards" resistance so it naturally gets pulled forwards towards an upshift.

Is this a common issue, can it be fixed or does it need a replacement shifter?
