15.003 @ 99.8 mph at Crail last Summer.
Got a really terrible start, not got the hang of it - was my 2nd run first thing in the morning where there was a touch of damp on the track. Will get the spare wheel out, run it on V-power, an extra inch of tyre width on the way with new lightweight alloys, Hoping for 101+ and cracking 14.5 this year :) |

Quarter mile times 2011 & 2009 nsra
I have my time slip and photos for this years NSRA Nostalgia Drags Shakespeare County 2011 in my retro volvo 1964 122s 1800cc twin su's modded cyl head D cam. Only 1 run at 17.484 @ 77.69 mph just for fun, as this year I always take my 1964 v8 383 cu in sbc supercharged pv544. testing it out I melted a couple of pistons 2wks before the meet. It's all back together now and making huge torque & HP. IN 2009 at the Hot Rod Drags testing the pv number a16 11.772 @ 130.98 I had to back off as stability was dangerous. Can not upload the pictures. If you want to see it racing got to 'Google' and put in quarter mile high Hot Rod Drags, scroll down click on the Yellow Austin Devon Hot Rod Drags 2010 preview of DVD, I'm the first one racing the 57 Chev.

About 520 bhp when it was working. 300 should get you 14 at 100mph roughly.

One of my mate Just wonderd what is the fastest street going Volvo in uk was Al |
It probably is the fastest but things are a bit pure around here and unless it is with a volvo engine (unlikely) then I'm pretty sure it won't be accepted as the fastest VOLVO.

Yes I belive you maybe right with guys "vox " yep has to be fastest on record
And yes quickest and fastest are two different things But dose a volvo penta count as a volvo engine ;) |
Volvo S40 T5 Santa Pod
This is going to seem slow to everything above.

Went to Santapod since then and got a 13.5 best for the day with a 110mph cross the line. |
Not bad, not bad. Best I managed was 9.51 at 152mph, but not in a Volvo.
BTW, did you know that Santa Pod is named after one of Father Christmas' testicles? |

What mods and power were you running? I used to go to the Pod all the time years ago, late eighties and 90’s. Just for comparison my standard old 2.8 Capri was 16.98 at 89mph, my 1993 3.0 M3 best I did was 13.9 at 101 mph and a 3dr Cossie I had that was running about 360bhp 13.3 at 117 mph. Best way to judge how quick the car is is terminal speed. I gave up going there about 20 years ago as I got more into doing trackdays. I’ve got two manual 854 T-5R’s and a F80 M3, love a Volvo! |

Yeh these cars are built more for cruising and pulls on the motorway rather than off the line acceleration which makes it difficult. But since I started going there when this car was standard, it has been a real world way to see actual progress. All my mods are really in power at the moment and car was running 390bhp but had 0 grip so spent the majority of the track wheel spinning till I finally got grip (My full build of the car is in my signiture). I had a friend there with a Gulf R32 who had 300bhp and AWD who had me off the line massivly and halfway down the track till I could actually find grip then sailed passed. So im hoping I will have a diff and some stickier tires on the next run, and even more power to throw down ... all fun and games though! Completly agree, the new cars are impressive and very quick but there seems 0 challange or skill in anything ... just press a button for launch, foot down ... go and flip some paddles. But yeh that M3 time is really good and that Cossie, I bet all those were fun to throw down the strip! Also same here, I tend to go to tracks more and the ring ... but there is something about going to Santapod, just like returning every now and then. I got to say the F80 M3 has got to be one of the nicest cars at the moment for me, they look incredible and would love to see how one would be on track ... some day I will stop making this Volvo faster and try getting a BMW! |
