S80 drivers door lock
 

Hi I have a 2003 s80 se d5. I have a strange problem with the front drivers door lock. When I attempt to open the car all the door locks respond and all stay open except the drivers door...the lock control button pops up but immediately drops down ...the only way to open the door is by inserting the key and turning it to the right to the unlock position and with the key in this position to pull the door handle....as soon as the key is release the lock control button drops to the down/lock position. It's just failed its MOT on this single point. The examiner believed it was dangerous. I have presumed the worst and have ordered a new lock actuator assembly.
After doing a little reading on the subject my question is do I have to remove the window or just the window guide to access the lock? I know it's not major to remove the door card but if I didn't have to remove the window and just the rear guide I would be much happier. Thanks in advance for any guidance.
