Interior lighting...

As I'm slowly working through various mechanical issues and getting somewhere with Smokey the Moose, I'm turning my attention to smaller items on my list of things to do.

I've been reading Laird's excellent guide: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=177505 and intend to replace all the dash lamps (most of which are blown anyway)

but would like to know if the bulb for the auto gear selector is the same setup on an early 940 as shown in the diagram?

I've read other threads about this being a right pig of a job unless you have very small hands or a child helper (I have neither). (part 44 in dia)

Secondary to this... has anyone upgraded the roof lights or know of good aftermarket lamps to make the interior a little less... dim?

Luke would probably be the best person to confirm this, a few months ago i added LEDs to several bulbholders for switch/gear shift etc illumination for him but only had the holders so can't be sure and can't remember if there were any with a cable coming from them as that diagram appears to show.

I think that's a bulb holder on the end of part 44... although it appears to be buried inside a lot of other gubbins, unlike the relatively easy access as seen on the 700 series in your guide.

I've read everything from removing whole shifter assembly to accessing it from under the car!
If it's that involved... I might just leave it in the dark and count the clicks :icon_smile_lachuh::icon_smile_lachuh:

As i said, Luke (360beast) would probably be the best person to confirm the 940 arrangement, Volvo seemed to change their minds more than they changed their socks with the design of various things and made otherwise simple jobs a complete nightmare to do!

It looks like a bulbholder with a cable terminated in a plug (item #44) and it could just be a short extension, that isn't unheard of either when they modufy things!
