Removing monocoque amazon sections

Good morning as the lockdown rolls on.......

When removing various sections of bodywork for renewal/repair, front cowels, that odd triangle tucked inside the engine bay, cutting rear wing to get to the inner wheel arches, removing floors etc how far should you go before you start reinstating? not wanting to destabilise the shape/framework etc. But I’d rather get all the bad out and know where I am before welding it all back in.

Personally, I'd do one section at a time, cutting all the rust out of one area and replacing. It sounds like yours will collapse in on itself if you cut the lot out.

Most of the Amazon is pretty accessible and easy to deal with. Get her stripped down and wings off etc and then go to town with getting old underseal and paint off. Then patch repair or replace sections. If the sills are gone do them first, then the floors/chassis, then the inner wings etc. One section at a time and depending how much strength you take out will guide you on if you need to add stiffeners before you start.

If you are doing the rear inner arch, I'm not sure on the sedan but you probably can't do it as original unless you take the wing off first. But you can still do it in situ without removing the wing by butt welding rather than plug/spot welding.
