Insurance- Esure. opinions?
Hi All.
It's that time of year again, so I'm doing my shopping around. Sheila's Wheels and Esure (apparently the same company) have come in substantially cheaper. But....is it too cheap? They are both household brands so I should be ok...Shouldn't I? Anybody have any opinions? Convince me to spend over a £100 extra? (The cover is comparable) |
Go with the cheapest. You'll find most are underwritten by the same or very large established companies anyway. No point in loyalty or overspending with insurance unless one has considerable perks that are relevant to you - such as more European cover or track day cover etc.

Was with e-sure once many years ago, then usual thing happened at renewal time-a hike in price-shopped around and got it cheaper elsewhere. This year shopping around it turns out e-sure were cheapest so that's who I went with.Insurance companies don't do "loyalty"their prices are biased towards capturing new business not keeping existing gambling on people being too lazy to shop around for a cheaper price.Things have changed a lot now of course with on-line comparison sites as opposed to having to phone or go to a broker.Of course they do say you only find out how good your insurance company is when you have to make a claim-which hopefully you won't have to.

Thanks guys.
That's my gut instinct. I'll double check cover, then go with cheapest. |
Hi,
Have you tried ourselves for insurance at all? Regards, Dan. |

Be wiser are pretty good, im not with them now but normally reasonable and i had never been charged for a change on the policy.
I will never go with Go Skippy again, far too awkward to deal with. Not always best to go with cheapest. |

I have a couple of days left before I jump, so we'll see what you come back with. |

Just renewed with volvo, £3 more than last year. Landrover is with NFU not the cheapest by any means but they understand landrovers and where they go. No you do not need green Lane cover, they are roads where all the rules apply it's just they are not metalled. You get what you pay for. Paul. |

So I rang, gave all the details again. Was asked for my cheapest quote so far and informed that you couldn't come close, fair enough, but then told I'd be transferred to another insurer. Was then asked for my details again, when I asked why, she said it was so that I could be passed on to another insurer to quote. Really!!!??? I ran out of "can I be bothered" at this point. I only have a short lunch break and don't have time to be passed from pillar to post. So, I went with Tesco Bank. A little more expensive than Esure (Sheila's), but Esure also messed me around. I really don't like being messed around. |
