am I getting paranoid? I mean more than usual?
Yes, s'me again.
To the point: Happened few times by now, last time quite few days ago.. When I start the engine, radio off, I'm getting a single, quite loud, about 1 second long "beep" on me speakers. Kinda... 2-3 seconds after motor starts. First time I thought its my imagination, but it comes back.. Second time I thought my phone- cradle being on the vent by drivers side mirror. Today I had my phone in me pocket, and sound definitely came from front of me. Any if you encountered something like that? For reference: OU52 (MY03) V70 petrol 170hp, HU803 with Dolby (premium?) No warnings on displays, nothing.. |
i know it might sound crazy but here it goes.....
Does your car have park assist? When you do or hear this are you on reverse ? |
No assist and not in reverse.. Literally few sec after engine start, before I even touch anything else. Usually I wait until rpm drops anyway.
Whatever crazy idea you have.. Put it on. Experience says its the crazy ideas that bring the answer. Like "microwave doesn't work- did you switch the socket on?" Seriously, I have no idea what that sound might mean. Do you know scream of brakes? That high pitched nerve wrecking... Take that. For 1 second. No fade in no fade out. Car stationary, if someone wonders. And not too loud either.. |
What was that?
Afternoon Thomas, could your mysterious noise be your Mirror Spiders snooze button? as you have so rudely woken him?
Just a thought, ok,got me coat on..... Keith. |
Have you got a handsfree with Bluetooth fitted. If so, it will be the Bluetooth looking for your phone.

I do have Bluetooth adapter, yes. Fitted it myself- tapped into iPod connector. But every time it happened, I mean that beep, it was with radio OFF... So I'm thinking link from iPod adapter would have to be live even with radio off.. Quick test- if it is so, then I should hear something by starting iPod "by hand".. |
Unable to test...
With radio off and engine running, I've got Volvo logo on iPods screen and no controls on iPod itself. But I noticed something else entirely: I'm sure as hell when I turned radio off few days ago it was set to cd multichanger (iPod adapter) Right now, after I turned it on it was set to FM. Is it possible that radio gives beep when its off and receives "traffic info" message over FM? And I checked wiring for bluetooth- disconnected. Well.. I haven't been using it for over a year now.. |
Pardon my ignorance but why would you have wiring for Bluetooth.
|
Well. I'm ignorant in many things. There's no one that knows all..
Phone=>radio link=>Bluetooth receiver=>electrical cables=>radio unit Therefore by "checked Bluetooth wiring" I was saying: I checked connections between Bluetooth receiver and radio unit. Beep! |
Then also, please pardon my ignorance.
