Car awning
 

Looking for an awning unit, the type that fits against and over the open tailgate of the car. Doesn't seem to be a great deal to choose from, anyone used or recommend one without being a bank breaker lol. Not for camping in, more for a changing area, shelter etc.

You're correct, there aren't too many about. I believe that Khyam make one and a number of Campervan manufacturers offer them eg. Sussex Campervans, Wellhouse, and Lunar initially offered one with their Vacanza (now Camper Car ) model. Failing that, just buying a freestanding 'toilet tent' might suit.
We used a side-mounted Khyam Motorhome with our camper and motorhome, but in the end we got so fed up with attaching/detaching all the time that we ended up just using it as a stand alone tent.

Pacman67, I have seen them advertised, but it was years ago. It might be worth asking in a fishing tackle shop, maybe angler's use something like them?

The best type you can get are for rv patio awning cover for cars and rv's. They are very reliable and good quality.
