Top Strut 'Star' Nut

Looking to purchase a 'Star' nut so I can swap out my top-strut mount and shocks on my '08 S60 D5.

Volvo Part Number is 9995469.

Does anyone know the recommended price for this particular part, or do they have one they might be willing to part with?

It looks like Laser have one that does the job for about £40 (https://www.lasertools.co.uk/product/6979) - anyone used this particular product?

Cheers, Nick.

Ive always used a small ring spanner on it to fit over one of the star points.

Be good to know what the correct tool is. Lol

I used mole grips but something like these:

might be suitable if a ring spanner can be used. I've got a couple of pass through socket sets and they have proven to be very useful. Bought a very cheap but functional set from Lidl a couple of years back.

I made a tool to do this job. You can't counterhold the strut when using the tool, but I found that the torque setting could be achieved without counterholding the strut. The star nut will tighten up and stop. It's not like a standard nut in this regard. You can't overtighten it.

Like Dancake I made my own tool from a spare suitably sized socket. I used a bench grinder to take away the material.

An adjustable wrench fits around the nut. Or even and adjustable pliers

Why do car manufacturers feel the need to do this, why do they invent ways to frustrate both home & trade mechanics, a special tool for this, a special tool for that when there are already easy ways to do it.
