2018 V40 oil low message but not...

I keep getting a message saying that I need to top up my oil when I know that it doesnt need it as it was recently filled.

I have done the usual by driving for a few miles then waiting a short while then checking it on the electronic dipstick. lt tells me that its low and that it needs to be topped up by 0.5 litres. Last time this happened it actually stated that I had over filled it.

Is this a common fault with the electronic dipstick as I am 100% certain that I havent used over 4 litres of oil in as many weeks..

its a 2018 V40 D3

yes it is common when the incorrect volume of oil has been put in and the oil level gauge not reset which must be done each service.

drain the oil and filter, put back exactly 5 litres. drive over 20 miles and see what it says next morning.

Have had that all done when I over filled it... Its telling me it's low and now its telling me after a run to work that all is ok....

I know for a fact that I ain't used 5 litres in as many weeks.. Is it a dealer that has to reset all this or can a local servicing garage when they do a service on it....
