Dan @ Adrian Flux Insurance

Hi everyone.

This is just a short introduction, I’m Dan and I’ve worked for Adrian Flux Insurance for 23 years.

If any of you on here have any general insurance queries or specific problems with Adrian Flux insurance please let me know. I have handpicked a small but dedicated team of staff who with me will try and assist you wherever possible. I can assure you we will be completely impartial despite being on the payroll of Adrian Flux. If we have messed-up we will acknowledge that and make efforts to get it corrected. If any of you do not understand an insurer’s viewpoint we will do our best to clearly explain it.

It could be problems ranging from simple paperwork issues to major claim disputes. With our many years of experience we should be able to answer most queries immediately. If there were issues or a problem that we can’t answer directly we would ensure that a relevant manager investigates these and we would then be able to relay an answer back.

I hope this will be of some help for you.

On behalf of myself and my team, thanks very much.

Dan.

I just got my renewal quote through via email, can i get a discount for being a member of this forum? My Volvo isn't anything special to anyone else, but it is cherished by me.

I've just submitted an online quote and it worked ok. Maybe try again?

I've been insured through Flux before but I'm not sure they will beat Aviva's quote of £285 with £80 quidco cash back available but we'll see.

I should be receiving my renewal price with Swiftcover at the end of the month.

Same here mate.

toxophilus Sep 5th, 2012 07:18

Nowhere near as cheap as people think. I tried Flux last year and then got a quote for a similar policy from Privilege which was nearly £100 cheaper. Flux refused to even match it. Won't be using them...

popuptoaster Sep 5th, 2012 07:58

I have never found Flux to be the cheapest, but when your trying to insure a Ford Cortina with a Cosworth engine in it, or a Volvo with a big turbo on it they are happy to oblige and they are used to dealing with custom cars and guys who want to do their own repairs.

When my 24v Cortina caught fire they offered me book value which was about 400 quid, when i produced a list of all the parts I had fitted and the prices I had paid for them they instantly upped the offer to 3 grand no questions asked.

people looking for the cheapest quote wont find it with flux I doubt, but if your car is modded and something happens to it you wont want to be with a standard insurance company.

(note, im nothing to do with them)

toxophilus Sep 5th, 2012 08:17

True enough - I know a lot of people who insure customised/modified motorcycles with them. Carole Nash are also pretty good for this.

mcouchard Sep 5th, 2012 09:46

Yes thanks, I finally got it to work though but they quoteed £786 for just my volvo, very steep.

So I have just renewed with Admiral for £736 for both my Volvo and my wifes Megane on our ususal Multicar policy.

The lowest quote I obtained for just the Volvo was £464 with Aviva, highest for both my cars was get this £2000 from NFU, that made me laugh.

boab74 Sep 5th, 2012 13:35

Well I for one will never use you again. I'm insured with you just now and I changed my impreza to a volvo (5 groups lower) and the charges were ridiculous. My insurance increased and the staff were far from helpful. Even tried to cancel my policy but you wanted 2/3 of my premium to do so. Sales staff are great but customer service is terrible, will go to a decent company next time.

DAN AT ADRIAN FLUX Sep 20th, 2012 10:13

Hi

Sorry to hear you have been having problems. If you would like to PM me your reference and contact number I can get this looked into for you if that would help.

Thanks

Dan

Really??? Really 15%?? WOW ! I must've been on drugs then hahahah. You're even on few other forums and the same 15%discount or even 20%. Hahahha.
Tried a quote last year for my S class and was quoted £3k something when my renewal was £710. Even Barclays, Lloyds and Direct Line were close to £1k.
Same old tick selling some crap service for a hidden price and when you have an accident ..."u're nicked dude !Your premium will be the sky and the stars next year!" .

This is called FORCED SELLING ! Why admins of these forums are allowing these companies to advertise such insane services....corporate greed.

...and now don't even start to tell me that Adrian Flux is the best UK insurance coz u're not even a Specialist car insurance broker.

...and before you even try to assess some sort of risk for US-the drivers- try to write down a risk assessment and a method statement for time wasting. :)

Btw that method statement is your Code of practice. I wonder what BBA, Ombundsman and Uk Insurers would say about this :)

The Thong Aug 17th, 2013 15:59

To be fair, they slaughtered everyone on price this year for me. Let see what next years renewal brings. I've always had good business with Flux. Long may it continue.

Wowsers! Just had a quote for my XC90, £910 - sounds like a bargain, when Axa are quoting £342.97! Does anyone think the 15% will make a difference in influencing my decision to buy or not?

Hi,
I'm sorry we couldn't help. Unfortunately we are can't be competitive on every quotation, I only wish we could be!
Thanks for trying us though.
Regards,
Dan.

Please note this offer doesn't state you will get 15% discount but UP TO 15%..reminds me of insurance company's small print

I for one will never use again after the terrible way my wife was dealt with on her recent accident.

They recommended Trinity Lane in Malta - what a shower they were. We had business use but they couldn't provide a courtesy car even though it was in policy. Really business use but no car................................

As soon as policy comes to end so will Flux...........................

Hi there.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

Unfortunately, these days, many Insurance Underwriters do not guarantee a Courtessy Car in the event of an accident. It doesn't matter who you Insure through -
- If your vehicle is repairable after an accident, it is purely down to the garage in question as to whether they will/can offer you a courtessy vehicle, not the Insurers.
- If your vehicle is written off in an accident, most Uk Insurers simply will not cover you for a courtessy car at all! It is a sad fact, but true.

The above is the case with most Insurers in the Uk, although we always offer our clients a Guaranteed Courtessy car uprgrade on the policy for only £20 for the year that will cover you if the vehicle is written off or stolen.
Unfortunately, a lot of people opt for 'price' over 'cover' these days, but we always offer the best cover and options we can. to meet our clients' needs.

As a Broker, we are always on the lookout for feedback regarding the companies we use.
If you ever have bad service from one of our Insurers we can look to replace you to an alternative Underwriter at the renewal of your policy.

If you would like to PM me your details I can have a look into the above situation for you if it would help in any way.

Many Thanks,
Dan
Adrian Flux

Hi Dan,

mikester Aug 1st, 2014 10:31

Dan, got your message. I can't send PM due to the 30 posts limit but I get the jist, I'll call the number you've given in your second post. Ta

Last years renewal was £150 above other company's prices, but after phoning yourselves it was beaten (£5).
This year it's about £125 dearer than other company's.

Is there such thing as customer loyalty ?

I will not be renewing with yourselves

Hi Jodiexii,

Renewals are calculated each year based on the previous years premium however as we have access to over 40 underwriters we are able to offer the opportunity to try and compete with any alternative like for like quotations, where possible.

Kind regards,
Dan.

JDmac May 1st, 2015 16:06

Hi Guys, Tesco Bank Insurance.....£345 for my V70. I guess a lot depends on age with all insurance companies, cheers,JD

warninglight Dec 16th, 2015 11:23

I was previously insured with Adrian Flux/Flux Direct on my first classic Land Rover. Things didn't work out with that and I replaced it with my C70 T5, which Flux wouldn't quote me on. Because the policy they had given me was a classic (but at 'modern' prices) my £550 or so premium, after 6 weeks, got me less than £200 back upon cancellation, and I was told I was only getting anything because they couldn't quote me for its replacement.

Nevertheless I decided to give them a chance to quote for the V70R this time around. I'm now older (25) and wiser than I was at 21, and was quickly reminded of pushy sales tactics which I don't like at all. They badger you for your best quote so far, and then beat it by a few quid, before pushing you into taking out the insurance there and then. I felt the call handler I had was downright rude when I asked for a quote reference (they won't honour quotes for any length of time, unlike other insurers) and was told no.

Whether their staff are paid large commissions, or that's just the culture of the company, I don't know. But it has reminded me why I won't be even trying them for a quote again, on my Land Rover, my other Land Rover, my Volvo or my Austin...

StatusRed Dec 16th, 2015 11:52

Does Adrian Flux insure young drivers / students?

warninglight Dec 16th, 2015 14:10

I was 21 and a student when I had my first policy with them. That was a 1978 Land Rover Series 3 insured as my every day vehicle.

In my experience they'll insure anyone and beat your best quote to boot. But be ready for pressure selling, and read up on reviews from people who have had to make claims through them in the past.

Hi Dan. It was just a gerneral question, I will definitely give you guys a buzz when my insurance comes up for renewal in June; cheers!

240T Jan 9th, 2016 18:34

Hi,

Do you insure younger drivers? AF haven't been so kind in the past regarding my 240 (and their classic policies). I was refused cover last year as I wasn't old enough to qualify for their '21 or over' clause. Would you be able to help, or is it not worth it?

Tim

DAN AT ADRIAN FLUX Jan 12th, 2016 20:22

Hi,
Yes we insure younger drivers. If you're looking for a quotation please feel free to PM me some contact details and I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.
Regards,
Dan.

Fridazadilak Jan 15th, 2016 13:12

I've always found that they are absolutely useless, and the call handler audibly laughed when I tried to get a quote for a classic policy on my 240.

Bunch of inept monkeys who I would never trust. In my experience, Footman James are a far easier company to deal with.

robinoliverb Jan 16th, 2016 03:37

ditto to the above.
seldom able to quote me on anything, so I've stayed with brentacre.
was with flux for my 1985 xj6 as they were the only ones who offered a policy, limited miles. when I took it out I was told there would be no refunds if I cancelled and when I said I'm changing car to a diesel 940, they wouldn't allow it to be swapped over because it was already paid for in full, which seems ridiculous.
so I cancelled the policy, and was sent a refund anyway!
total toss.

mikester Jan 28th, 2016 11:57

Hi Dan,

I'm currently insured with you until August this year, I didn't know you were offering 15% discount to members on this forum so never mentioned it when I renewed on the phone 01/08/15. Can I get that discount backdated to when I took the policy out and the discount amount refunded to me? I paid in full when the policy commenced...

samnbo Jan 28th, 2016 22:00

hi Dan before you promote your firm on these enthusiast forums you should perhaps ask some of your customers about the shocking service and rip off practices of your company,ie i was on classic policy with my 240 tried to add my c70 part way through couldnt do it excessive amount of money required to cancel but would give me good discount with new policy still hit me for nearly 400 quid, changed it to my 940 with 3mths to go took 70 quid of me,5 days later changed back to c70 because 940 failed its mot you guessed it no refund on the 70 quid but an extra charge of 25 quid with the explanation (no my fault its the rules) due for renewal march guess who i wont be calling.

monkeh Jan 29th, 2016 10:26

Wont be using Flux again, Always found that they were expensive, Quite pushy on the phone too, assuring me that legal cover was recommended.

robinoliverb Jan 29th, 2016 18:13

used flux once briefly on a classic policy, never again.

Brentacre are the way forward, been with them for nearly 4 years now.

akita Jan 31st, 2016 21:21

My 262 has been with AF for 3 years, only stipulation is I don't do more than 3000 miles per year, as it's been in restore for the last two and the car has done no miles I might have a word about the next premium lol otherwise fautless company

oblark Feb 1st, 2016 08:37

I have both my cars insured with flux, this is the first time and last time I'll be using them.

I'm still waiting for comformation of a agreed amount on the 850. I've lost count of the emails I've sent and the times I've be asked to phone back later.
