300 series event - Nottingham(ish) - 16th September
After the success of the Brooklands meet (thanks again to all who came), we're keeping things a bit more simple for the Autumn meet.
Do you like 300s? Do you like steam and Victorian engineering? If so, come for a look round Papplewick Pumping Station (NG15 9AJ) in 3 weeks time(!). The engines are steaming that weekend, and it's an impressive sight. We don't have any special parking arranged, so it'll be a case of parking in the car park (I'll probably be there from 10:45 or so), having a bit of a chat, then going in around midday for a look around. There's a pub down the road, and I suspect we'll head there afterwards for food and a drink. It'll be good to see you if you can make it :) cheers James |
I don't have a 300 car but some years ago I went to the pumping station on one of their "steaming"days+I went down into the{empty}underground reservoir-that's impressive in its own right-all in all it's definitely well worth the visit!

Yeah, it's a great site! Feel free to come and join us for another visit :)
cheers James |
Thanks for the invite,I'll see what I can do-no promises though!

Gahhhh 107 miles each way, not a cheap day out in the 940 :(
One day the 300 series meet will be close by. |
300 meet
Yeah it would be great if the 300 meet was closer to me too.
Maybe one day. |
Where are you, Mr Beast?
I looked at the Morgan factory as a possible venue a few years back, but it’s not open at weekends :( Any venue ideas near you? I’m all ears! cheers James |

The mill is situated within easy reach of J23 of the M1. They have a pleasant tea room and a resident blacksmith, as well as occasional displays and exhibitions. They have an open day once a month in the season and welcome visits from car clubs, for which they have a dedicated display area. If your preference is for a pub rather than the tea rooms, there are also several good watering holes in the area! Full details are available on their website www.shepshedwatermill.co.uk. From personal experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue for your consideration. Regards, John. |
I'm in Worcester, my Dad used to make Morgan's a couple years ago... they are very very badly put together cars and some of the stuff they do is shocking.
Solid aluminium sun blinds are illegal as they will decapitate you. Morgan get around this buy selling them without a sun blind and then sending the cars to Aero to have them fitted so it is classed as an aftermarket add on. As for venue we could meet at the car park by the butterfly park in Stratford Upon Avon and go to any of the historic buildings like Ann Hathaways cottage. I've unfortunately double booked myself and can't make this one :(
