2017 V90 Brake Pad Replacement

Evening All, I have a 2017 V90 that needs rear pads replacing. Is it possible todo this without taking to a Volvo main dealer? I have been quoted £220 plus Vat which i am reluctant to spend for such a straightforward job. Can I put a 12V supply onto the motor to release pads?

Cheers All.

Confused of Preston.

There are videos on YouTube "Bengal tiger" which helped me do my rear discs myself. You unscrew the motor and then Wind It Up by hand, being careful not to get any dust onto the splines. you don't need to get involved with the electrics and you just pull the wire out of a holder that it's held in by some Gromit type things.

As I not mechanically minded or got the tools. My local independent garage recently replaced rear pads for half the price youve quoted.
I imagine the Volvo dealer will be £100+ per hour.

Dealer did mine on XC90 the other week for 170 including pads while it was being serviced.

I have been to two mechanics neither has been able to release the rear callipers with the computers they have, so I can get my pads replaced... anyone experienced this?

Mine had all 4 sets of pads done for £330, I have to admit that the lease company picked up that cost as part of a fully maintained contract.

They actually did it while fixing the over filled oil issue as a result of the DPF regen etc.

I had the rear pads on my 2017 V90 replaced by the dealer at the time of my third service, I have a service pre-payment plan and the additional charge for the pad replacement both parts and labour including VAT was £163.00.

Just had mine done and initially the garage had problems but found the ignition was not on , you need to make sure the start button is rotated for 5s ... once ignition was on they could access the service mode.

Bought rear pads from Volvo Carlisle on eBay for £55 and front for £72 delivered. They were very helpful in checking the correct parts needed for my car before purchasing.
