Finally got round to transmission flush

Hi I posted a bit back asking about transmission flush..delivery problems and postal strike meant I have only just got the stuff.
So I dumped the sump and refilled drove for 30 or so miles then repeated I then reverted to being a lazy sod and did a sump dump while working through the gears opening up the solenoids...and went through about 16 litres. It's nice a red now and the gear changes are almost invisible. I'm altogether very happy with the outcome and you can see from the picture the sealed for life claim is absolute rubbish. Cheers just thought I follow up on my first post

Nice one ! Where did you read that claim about being sealed for life ? It's internet bunkum being spread around and people believe everything published on the internet of course.... Volvo have never stated that. In fact it has been on their List of Optional service items since 1982 .

My car has 79k on it now and I'm thinking of getting this done.

Not doing it myself though!

Question is where do I get it done at? Do main dealers have the clever EDT machines for flushing the transmission properly or is it best to go to an auto transmission specialist?

Also do you need VIDA to re-run the adaptations routine for the new fluid viscosity/condition?

@Clan may be the man in the know?

Mainly from various YouTubers while looking for info on the car. I recall one stating Volvo put the information out to capture the fleet market to entice them with reduced maintenance costs.

Sorry I don't know where you'd get it done but it's really easy to do..I had to order a 17mm hex for the sump plug and used my generic obd reader to see the temp went to 50-60 degrees for final leveling.
I would have liked to have reset the counter to 0 but don't have vida and I think the transmission relearns as it goes along. If I'm wrong apologies but that's what I've gone with haha

In VIDA it describes the method of pumping it out via the oil cooler hose. Hence the 48 minute Volvo standard Time figure ( Excluding connecting up the hoses). It would be interesting to see what they charge.

Is than a Volvo operational procedure number from VIDA?

I'll ask for a quote from my local dealership and update this thread with the cost. May need to call in and ask to speak with the Master Tech as every time I ring these days I go through to a Head Office/National call handling facility and just get a call centre dude reading off a script and all they are interested in is upselling (MOT cover/fuel treatment/interior sanitizing).
