I'm more concerned about the misleading nature of the the price in the listing.
Makes the seller look disingenuous and pretty shady.

They're offering the wiper motor for £50 can't see anything shady about it at all.

The listing title and photo is for a 240, the listing description is for a wiper motor.
If your description doesn't match the title, you're being deceptive.
If he's selling the wiper motor, why not put that as the main title and photo?
If he's breaking the whole car, why not list everything and the individual prices in the description or better still a listing for each component.
The seller is either dodgy or lazy.

If I listed a laptop for sale for £50 in a forum thread title then in the thread description, I said it was £50 for only the laptop charger, people would rightly report it and it would either get amended or taken down.

This seems fairly common for someone breaking a car and selling the bits on eBay. It’s usually something like 99p for a wheel nut, though.

When you think about it, other than listing every one of the hundreds of parts that make up a car, either in one listing - only 12 photos don’t forget - or hundreds of separate listings, what other way can it be done?

I’ve bought from this sort of ad, I contacted the seller describing what I wanted, they created a separate BIN listing for it, I bought it. Simple and straightforward.

I'm sure it is common but that doesn't mean it's the right way to sell.
My point is that thousands of sellers have no problem with taking the time to list things correctly and I prefer to use those.
I don't want to enquire and wait for a response about a whether a part is even available then wait for a description of its condition, whether it works, photos etc.

The listing in this thread doesn't tell you if the whole car is available, if anything has been sold, there's only one exterior photo..... It's basically a crap advert.

Well I'm sure the answer isn't only a choice between hundreds photos of every part or one crummy photo of one side of the car as the seller has decided to do.
12 free photos could be 5 exterior shots, 5 interior shots 1 photo each of the luggage compartment and engine bay.

You'd have a good idea of the car in general and it would take the seller 2 minutes to photograph.

The point surely is that eBay rules say you can't just advertise "Lots of stuff - contact me for details"; you can only advertise specific items with an opening price.
The long-accepted answer is to advertise say one wheel nut or a wiper motor, which then means anyone looking for other parts can contact the seller.
Everyone knows that - it's how it works

Obviously anyone who wants to buy the whole car is free to contact the seller and agree a price. But act quickly or you'll find bits like the wiper motor are missing. :)

The listing title says volvo 240 breaking, you have to put an item for sale in the ksi8tng so the listing is for a wiper motor but is advertising the fact they're breaking a 244.

I have a couple of listings on eBay with the title breaking Volvo 940 and in the description I have put positing is for a wheel nut. You have to do it otherwise people will click buy now or bid on it expecting to buy a 940 for 99p!

To list every item off a car for breaking would take all day if not longer! So no I wouldn't bother advertising all the individual bits, people just message you asking for specific parts and you make the listing for them once you have agreed a price to save you wasting time listing parts that aren't going to sell.

Yup. Thats the way it works on Ebay. Nothing dodgy.

No one's interested in the condition of the car in general.
