Fuel pressure regulator

Hi folks, now that the fpr for the 1998 v70 t5 is no longer available, what are people using as a replacement?

Thanks

has it failed ? very rare anything happens with those .. I would be surprised if you couldn't get one from volvo via their classic warehouse .

is this the one? or try a bosch agent ..

Hi, i am getting a harder start than usual and the odd hesitation on acceleration now and again. All new ignition components and new fuel pump and relay fitted. I was going to just change the fpr to be sure the fuel system is fresh and rule it out. The part number I need is 1275711 and volvo have none in stock anywhere and bosch no longer make it.

Can you test the fpr first? Check the Fuel Pressure section in this link:

Thats not the way to do it by guessing is it . If you are hard up then you are going to be spending more money than you would by having it repaired properly .
I mean if your TV was playing up what do you do... take the back off and start changing random components? No you take it to the TV repair man , who does some quick basic tests and changes the part which is causing the problem . That's the most economic way of doing it .

You say all new ignition components , are they volvo ? i've seen brand new inferior distributor caps and leads tracking HT voltage and causing misfires whist the perfectly good volvo original one goes in the bin .

I don't have access to a fuel pressure tester but when I prime the pump and open the schrader valve fuel does spray out. I now have a lean bank 1 code that has just shown up after a short journey. I can't see a vacuum leak but the car now has very little boost in 3rd to 5th.

The first thing to do is make sure the fuel pressure is right under LOAD , it could well be right at idle but when the turbo starts producing pressure fuel demand will jump 100 times and a weak pump will not be able to maintain the pressure .

The fuel pump is a new walbro. Car now stalls while idling if left long enough. I originally thought the fuel pump hence why I changed it and the relay. Could this be something that's isn't fuel related? I can unplug the MAF whilst the car is running and nothing happens and then the car will stall instantly if I plug if back in.

Whats the fuel pressure under load ? That is the first question everyone is going to want to know . other wise they waste their time going down the wrong paths confusing everyone if the pressure is the cause ..

I will have to get a hold of a fuel pressure tester to find out and let you know thanks
