Keys
Keys to my GLT have vanished...no idea...gone..
Can i get replacements from the dealer via the vin number? not worried about the fob, not worked in ages. TIA |
I ordered spare keys from Volvo back in April and was told it would tke about 7-10 days, after 14 days I called and they said they were having problems getting them from the manufacturer. Called every week for 3 months after no keys I was told they couldn't fulfill the order and refunded me

Option maybe is to find s/h key and barrels for door & ignition...
If you can find any, I had to do this on my 850 a few years ago but parts seemed easier to find then. |

I was the last person to post on that link in the above post. I am still waiting for someone to actually be successful at having a working key made that actually starts the car!!

If you've got a car from after about 98 or 99 the code in the key is a 'rolling code' which is reset every time the key is used so you can't get a cloned key, it's a dealer computer job at a price! If you've got a key (no help to john-sussex) you can get a mechanical copy made at the likes of Timpsons (mine had to order the blank specially) but it doesn't have a chip. It will get you into the car on its own and start the car if the original key is next to the ignition switch to send/receive the code, so one could get as many copies as you want and stick the original key inside the steering column.

Turns out thankfully the insurance (AA key cover)will cover it so not too bad just time consuming. Forgot i had it...lol
