Help and advice.

Hi all, I'm Rob from West midlands.

Im after a bit of help as my car, 2012 2.4 D5 R design seems down on power in the low revs and fuel economy. 35mpg not driven hard at all.

Looking at youtube videos there seems to be a vacuum leak that it coming through the oil filler cap (when its taken off).

I was going to clean out the boost control valve but I can't find it.... Anyone know where to look?

The crankcase hose and the nipple going into the air inlet pipe is all loose so I am going to fix that.

I think this is the egr control valve....

I also have a code come up on my generic reader P1551 (68) that will not clear.

I took it back to the garage I bought it and they said the car drives fine and they are unable to clear it either.
Any ideas?

Thank you.

I had the same low MPG for around 6-8 months. It went back up for a month and then back down again recently.

Same experience with dealers finding no fault and saying all is fine. No codes reported however. I've not looked for a vacuum leak by taking the oil cap off though.
Mine had a hose and a jubilee clip fitted for the heated crankcase vent nipple, but sadly it didn't solve the issue. Video of the part here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLhs...ature=youtu.be

Yes that's the one video I have seen so will do that repair next week when I get a day off.
Going to try and find someone local with vida to have a look for me.

I saw a video where the vac mounts were worn out and leaking vac out through the boost control valve, causing reduced power and economy.... All I've got to do is find it! 🙈

Please post the link if you find it! Would love to solve the issues of my low MPG!!

Do you have the instant mpg display on your instrument cluster? If so have you noticed that your car doesn't always show 99mpg when you lift off the throttle and coast/use the brakes? Or it does but takes longer than it should to show that?

The link for the mounts leaking? I'll post the YouTube link.
I have the instant readout but haven't noticed a delay when coasting/breaking will check it tonight on the way home.

I’ll have a look at that on my next day off, thanks!

Another symptom I’ve had is a whistling noise at 25-40 mph, on throttle and off throttle. Garage says it’s turbo noise but I’m sure it’s not.

Hope you get yours sorted soon

Sounds like turbo to me, there is a company local to me who will take off check and refit your turbo for free and if it needs repair they will rebuild. Best turbos, they do have a few places around so might be worthwhile seeing if one is local to you.

Surely if the turbo was underboosting there'd be a relevant error code registered (it was P1237 on my Honda)?

I get the same popping as he does in that video. Not sure if that is an older D5 though? The oil filler cap is in a different location. Mine became very clear when I took the oil cap off.
Can’t see the boost control valve anywhere! Can’t see engine mounts either to be fair though!

My selekt warranty runs out in 11 days. By my reading of this valve or the engine mount has failed then I would be covered. But not if it’s a pipe. Dealer keeps saying nothing wrong with the vehicle, but I do now have more information.
