Another Aux input question

Hi, I've had a good search and found much debate on this topic but nothing that specifically answers my question. I have a 2011 registered C30 T5 R-Design, which was previously an unmarked police car. I was under the impression that 2011 models were supposed to come with an aux input (3.5mm jack) as standard, the owners manual seems to support this as it hasn't got it starred as an option, but does have the USB port starred as an option. There is nothing in the centre console cubby box bit, however as it used to have a police radio fitted in the glove box I wondered if the wiring could have been somehow diverted into that.

Is there any way to confirm or deny that it has an aux port available? If not, I take it there's no way to easily add one, and having a radio upgrade will probably be stupid money through Volvo.

Thanks in advance

Police specification is usualy very basic regarding the radio .. If it had one at all ! what is the chassis number ? ( Last 6 of the VIN )

I have a late 2011 C30 SE LUX with lots of extras but the iPod & USB port were still an optional extra that the dealer agreed to fit for free.

Don't know where I got that info from then, I had it in my head that 2011 onwards came with bluetooth and aux as standard, it's got bluetooth but no aux that I can find!

yes you have basic radio with no AUX and no USB .Police never have a top range radio system .

USB is available from volvo , Standard with the upper level audio systems .

Your best solution is the volvo / Pure DAB 300Di , £295 fitted at your volvo dealer ,
It gives you DAB Radio , USB , AUX and i-Pod interface .
A nice neat system .

Thanks for that, if I understand right the Volvo USB interface will probably cost me a load of money but allow me to still use the steering wheel controls. Not possible to DIY install due to VIDA download being required.

I'm guessing the Pure unit would have to be connected via the aerial adapter due to lack of an existing Aux, so I wouldn't be able to use the steering wheel controls (other than volume). Should be possible to DIY install, and means I could fit an external aerial for the DAB in the place of the redundant police aerial.

Yes the VOLVO Usb will be a little more expensive than the Pure device , and is integral using the original display and steering wheel buttons .

The Pure has a number of ways of connecting but yes in your case the signal is injected into the aerial, and does still sound good . It is Not a FM transmitter ! The supplied screen aerial works well ,
you could fit either of these devices , yes you would have to get the dealer to download the software for their USB/i-Pod device ..

Thanks for confirming all that, I think I will go with the Pure unit and fit an external aerial, even if the supplied one works well, it means I haven't got a redundant aerial and I don't have to get the roof hole filled in.
