How to get new trim clips into 940 door trim / rubbing strip
 

Hi to all

The moulding does not remove from the strip at either end or in any way and I have had to physically break the old broken clips to remove them and using sheer brute force have had success with refitting only one new one

Any tips please?

This is not the best weather for manipulating plastic. You will need to warm up the new clips to avoid breaking them.

I found that it was virtually impossible to install new clips in situ. I removed the whole piece of trim. It was then fairly easy to remove and replace any broken clips by pushing the new ones into position with the trim resting on a firm surface.

You then have to line the whole thing up and snap the clips into the holes in the panel. They slide to and fro a bit once in the trim to facilitate this.

The trim is indoors in the warm Forrest, it was knocked off the car when it was hit in August and has been indoors since then. The trim is flat on my desk. Finding it impossible to get the new clips in. Forcing out the old broken ones which fly through the air in several pieces

I think they go in easier if you put one edge in first but I forget which one. I have a recollection that the lips on the trim aren’t quite symmetrical so one side will clip in easier than the other. I didn’t find these too bad, but with the windscreen trim clips I resorted to using a hammer and a block of wood to get them into the trim.

Thanks. This is in fact how I managed to get the one in, using a hammer and a piece of wood. Further attempts to get another one in in the same manner failed. I can see I am going to have to be very patient here and keep having attempts at this!
