BKV is NOT cancelled

Ladies and Gents,

For now this is a short explanation of what has happened. We booked and paid for Old Warden last year, and just by chance, yesterday, we found that a music festival has also been booked for the same weekend - on the ground we had been promised.

Discussions are on-going, and options are being considered, but I assure everyone that the BKV will go ahead on the same date. The venue may change but I will give more information in the next few days.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes so please be patient as we have to ensure that certain matters get addressed before more is given out.

I personally think its VERY unlikely that it'll be be more than 15/20 miles from the current location, for the very reason you have stated - people have already put a lot of money down on accommodation + traveling plans.

Only way to find out is to wait and see. As for who foots the bill .. I would assume the person who booked the accommodation? If the venue is moved a reasonable distance and you have a room booked in a "chain" (Travelodge/Premier Inn etc) you *might* stand a chance ringing them, and asking if you can change the hotel you are staying at.

As long as the show goes on as holiday days already booked .

Please be patient, we have a meeting with Old Warden on Wednesday. I will, however, say this, no one is going to be out of pocket if the worst happens.

As a side issue, the Pre War Morris Minor club are also having their National meeting there Fri/Sat/Sun. I wonder if they are affected.

A quick Google suggests that it's the Glade Festival - http://www.gladefestival.com/
...so dance music. Probably a bit 'down with the kids' for background music for the BKV!

All joking aside, good luck with the negotiations. It must be very difficult to have this sort of disruption so close to the event, and I don't envy the extra work you're having to put in. Let me know if I can help at all.

cheers

James

Who says our Mods/Admin are not worth it? Just another example of the work we do not normally see.
