1800e rear view mirror
Hi,
I have a kit to refurbish the interior mirror but cannot get the arm off the ball part, can anyone advise? The rear section and glass looks easy but cannot be fitted unless the arm is separated. I have been a googling but only found someone in the US that sells them completed. Cheers Keith |
hi ya
try applying some wd40 then roll it out of the retaining hole , it should fall out then with some lubrication , thats the white mirror mounted higher in the E from memory http://ts2.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.46986...62129&pid=15.1 the S mirror has screws holding a small bracket retaining the ball into the back of the mirror :) mounted on the dash |

I will try that tomorrow, I'm trying to get the ball section off the arm, maybe I'm attacking the wrong joint. Cheers Keith

Hi, Has this approach worked?
There is a screw that comes out but doesn't appear to hole anything, I think the aluminium (?) bolt it goes into might have seized Ibought a renovation kit from Brookhouse and can't get the thing apart. Also the plastic part has no holes in it, whereas the original one does (on the fins inside). I have a 1970E (with an earlier grille on it) |
I'm in the same boat. The glass comes out easy enough if you heat everything up but getting the mirror frame off the arm is nigh on impossible. I am just going to use the glass from a refurbish kit. I asked Simon at Brookhouse if he or any of his customers had successfully got the frame off the arm. Apparently not!
