Power window operation

Hi All,
I'm new to the forum, so please be patient with the following possibly dumb question...
I've got a '06 S40 and I would like to know if it is possible to change the way the power windows work...
ok... let me explain...
Currently if I pull the switch up the window goes up until I let the switch go, but if I push the switch the window either goes all the way down or just goes down until I let the switch go, depending on how long I touch the switch for.

Can it be made to only move while I am holding the switch, ie. get rid of the "all the way down" function?
Maybe there is a software setting or maybe a wire can be disconnected?

Your help will be appreciated

You are aware of the fact that the switch is a two-phase switch in both directions, right?
That means that if you push or pull it slightly /phase 1 at about 45 degrees/, not all the way, then the window will move only as long as your finger is on the switch in that position.

However if you fully push or pull the switch all the way through its corse then the window will go all the way up or all the way down, regardless of how long /in time duration/ you're pulling or pushing. So one full push or one full pull even for half a second will cause the window to go all the way up or down, resp.

So to get rid of the "all the way down", don't push the switch fully to phase 2, but keep it half way between its fully resting position and fully pushed.

I hope i understood your question correctly..

Thanks, I am not near the car at the moment, but next time I drive it I'll try that.
I guess the problem is with the driver!!
It would still be kind of handy (for a clumsy switch operator like me at least) if that second phase didn't happen.

There's a kind of 'extra bit' to the switch you just need a bit more pressure (not that much) and the window will open or close fully.

Can I be the first to introduce you to the 'Remote window closing' function? I didn't know it existed untill someone on here told me so......Anyhoo, upon leaving the car (leave your window(s) down still) then press AND HOLD the lock button on the remote fob and the window(s) will close themselves

Also on days like today - very hot, you can hold the unlock button down and all the windows will open fully.

Odd, because i have an S model and both up and down works from the remote. It can be tempremental, and can take a few attempts.

Its never ever worked on mine. I've held down the open button for a minute. No response. Windows close up fine though!
